In my opinion it can be good in a general conditioning phase but when it comes to really working particular aspects of fitness it isn't the way to train. I agree with everything Virus said. I remember I did an olympic lifting workshop a couple years back and there was a crossfit dude there. Skinny, weird dude who took every opportunity he could to mention bodybuilding and how **** it is. I think bodybuilding is a bit gay and weird myself but this guy acted like bodybuilding was an entity that had taken human form and raped his grandmother. He reminded me of a brainwashed religious person talking about satan, he had fire in his eyes. Back to the topic, every thing you're training must have a purpose. Crossfit is a little bit of everything, it's not for an athlete trying to peak at anything.
tell me about it. i got the crossfit lecture from my brother a couple weeks ago in the gym. "its the best way to train, you're training is wrong, anybody who hates on it doesnt know how to workout" blah blah. needless to say i asked him to put the gloves on when we got home to see whos training is paying off more, no surprise he backed out of it
I think you and virus are painting with a broad brush. Granted, some folks go a bit overboard w it but some critics follow suit on the other end of the spectrum.
It's a bunch of ever-changing workouts where your main goal is to push yourself so hard you throw up, doing so makes you cool, apparently. I give you a Crossfit mascot, Pukey the Clown - This content is protected They also do very stupid **** in general to prove... something. One of the dipshits was doing an 135lbs overhead squat with his 1 year old strapped to his chest. Another was hanging off the bottom of a bridge with train tracks 30 feet below doing pullups. Crossfit decided these pictures should go on the main site to show how cool Crossfit is.
Again. It's just a few jackasses imho that give us that bad rep. We don't do this **** at our gym. I can see why it would turn people against it when reading what morons like that do. I nor have I ever known anyone in our class to puke. You go as hard as you can but not to the point of injuring yourself.
I've been sarcastic in everything I've said, but it's the general attitude that you get from the Crossfit crowd.
Ok didn't i add other things to the equation, like running longer, and stronger then I ever did before? no offense i don't give a **** if your a pro, and quite frankly I don't give a **** about the bull**** that spews out of your mouth when you go around shitting on things other people say or talk about.
C'mon man not everybody does dumb stuff like that. I would never subject my 6 month old to something dangerous like that. So when you say they you are generalizing every person who does crossfit, and while there are people out there who do things fanatically, I was talking about the workouts which are very good for you. Maybe you are dissing it, because you can't do it?
