He will just dump the belt and still hold the IBF unless the IBF also enforce the rematch then I think he will take the Khan fight.Hes holding out right now because hes still hopeful of landing the Pacquiao fight.

Peterson's reputation will be ruined if he doesn't take the rematch.

    Can he vacate - yes

Will he vacate - yes. He will either get the Pacquiao fight, or drop the WBA and keep the IBF an take a few easy defences

Yes, he can just drop the WBA. If the IBF mandate the rematch then he would have to drop both belts for the rematch.

The state of boxing is shocking that the 2 best boxers in the world are discussing Peterson and Guerrero.

What I think could happen is that Lamont vacates the WBA belt, We see Khan taking on an opponent for the vacant belt possibly Guerrero, Mean while Lamont defends the IBF against maybe Morales, and we will be back to the Rematch with all being equal and fair hopefully providing Guerrero or Morales don't win :think

If the next fight card was

Khan vs Guerrero - WBA 140
Peterson vs Morales - IBF & WBC 140

then you'd have no complaints from me...

...but if Khan or Peterson lost then it would ruin a rematch which should still happen.

It will depend on whether or not Peterson gets the Pacquiao fight, because other than that fight or Mayweather there is nothing else out there that offers him as big money as a Khan rematch.

Its a ****ing joke anyway no way should Peterson be forced into a rematch he should only take it if he wants it. He beat him fair and square the first time. Theirs boxing off the back foot and theirs running and khan was running infact peterson even jogged after him at one point.

Hopefully peterson does him again in the rematch. I was a khan fan but I've lost alot of respect for khan. He robbing peterson of a great victory.

I keep seeing this phrase used to describe a fight that was an absolutely razor thin SD where the eventual victor only won because of two questionable point deductions....it couldn't even be described as close but clear because that just wouldn't be true. Regardless of the ****ing about in the background I'm surprised that Peterson doesn't seem interested in proving that he can beat Khan without the assistance of the DC ref. Razor thin decision should = rematch.

You can't say khan didn't get warned enough for pushing he got told numerous times every round. Like football sometimes you get the refs decisions sometimes you don't. I still believe there is a case for peterson without the points being deducted. There were times in the fight were he was literally running away and looking a bit like a bully victim.

And its not like he always give people rematches after a close or controversial fight e.g. prescott, barrera, maidana, mcCloskey, judah. The last two are questionable but the first three deserve a rematch.

Its no ones fault amir khan lost but himself. He threw the fight away by just standing their and covering up when he was being hit and not getting off the ropes and have zero infighting ability. Pressure is the way to beat khan prescott did him, maidana was close and now peterson has done him. It something he really need to work if he wants to become the man.
