When you get a cut like that, caused by an accidental head clash, couldn't you allow the ref to break the action every now and then (not at a crucial moment) to get the blood cleaned up?

Can this already be done under the rules?

The blood can be cleaned up for examination of the cut, but as far as I know, you can't keep doing it.

No because once it is checked a few times with minor clean ups and often in the 1 minute break. If that doesn't stop the flow then you can't hurt the fighter medically just for action to continue.

A cut should always be left up to the doctor to decide BUT experienced fight doctors who understand the sport, how the cut will be damaged further etc Only a doctor should be able to stop a fight due to what is happening to it medically not the ref thinking it looks bad.
