There was a time that they were all agreeing it was a cheap shot but with one thing they always want to emphasize - LEGAL.

Firstly, your definition of sucker punch is way off. A sucker punch is a punch when someone is NOT ready for it, in other words, is not already in a fight. Ortiz was in a fight, the ref initiated the fight again, Ortiz not being prepared was his own fault. I'll give you an example, Khan v Maidana...Khan came out in the first round, he wanted to touch gloves with Maidana, Maidana had other ideas and tried to take Khan's head off. Would that have been a sucker punch? If you answer yes to that, this debate is over, because you know nothing.

Against Mosley, again, they are in the middle of a bout, Mosley wants a conversation, someone of his experience should not be doing that. Mayweather was again well within his rights to hit him - not a sucker punch!

Gatti is a little different, again, not really Mayweather's fault, quite clearly the refs fault.

Another example, Ortiz was the one initiating the hug, how was Mayweather to know that Ortiz wasn't planning on hitting him as they got close? The ref had called them to fight after all, was he supposed to stand there in a clinch waiting for Ortiz to either hit him first, or back away?

Mayweather's elbow is not there to land on opponents faces or there to cause damage. He uses it cleverly to make it uncomfortable for his opponent, and also to create a little space. Should he be pulled up on it more? Definitely.
