Gatti said he would cut 15-20 pounds at the weigh in, put it back in for the fight and then from the toughness of the fight lose 15 pounds over the 12 rounds!

Boxing is hard and under those lights alone you sweat a tonne.

They're actually biting ice. It's because they're dehydrated.

I remember when Shane fought Ceballos. The day before he was 135. When hydrated he was 159lbs!!!! I have it on VHS. Never forgotten that. And iv never seen a weight disparity like that before. ****ing insane.

Don't remember. But i do know he wasn't anything close to the middleweight limit like Shane was.

What's the reason for doing it/what makes it so dangerous? Does it just give you the feeling that you are getting water or something? Sorry for 101 questions I just never had to worry about dipping into the weight cutting business so I'm a noob when it comes to it.

If you've ever been badly dehydrated you'll know. Dehydration 'can' kill you. It does severe damage internally if not treated in time. It's places extra stress on your heart, kidneys and liver.
These guys are dehydrating them self so they can make weight. When you're cutting amounts that large and that quickly it's going to be detrimental to your health long term.
What i'm not understanding is 'how' they're making weight. As unless they're on illegal supplements or some drastic measures there's no way you can cut 20+ lbs in a few days.

Clottey Vs Pacman... Clottey weighed close to 168lbs on fight night I hear.

Watch the fight again and you won't doubt it either! Crazy and dangerous!

I get the dehydrating part, it's the dangers of biting ice while cutting I'm curious about. You highlighted it in your response about Vitor biting ice, so I was curious as to if that makes the cutting weight progress significantly more dangerous.

He's biting the ice because his thirsty, and doesn't want to take in too much fluid by sipping water.

Toney did 21 pounds against Jones and Mayorga did 22 pounds but can't remember against who. 24 pounds is the most I've seen in boxing if your numbes are right!

Those numbers are definitely correct. I have the fight on VHS. And i remember watching it over a decade ago and was stunned at 'how' Shane was able to put on so much weight .
