Anybody else fed up with boxing promoters?

    I think the sport of boxing is being ruined by promoters who over-protect their fighters and put them into fight they are sure to win.

    Sure, there's always been unethical promoters, but people like Don King at least gave fans the fights they wanted to see. His PPVs always had good undercards.

    I'm sick to death from seeing on internet boxing websites article after article and thread after thread about the possibility of a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. Some blame Floyd, others blame Manny.

    The reality is: Bob Arum doesn't want the fight. He knows there a good chance Pacquiao would lose, and so his future fights might be less lucrative.

    Arum has a lot of very good boxers on his roster, but he usually has them fight journeymen and fringe contenders instead of world-class opponents. Julio Ceasar Chavez Jr is an obvious example. Gamboa and Donaire need to step up and fight people on their own level. Martirosyan must be bored with fighting journeymen by now - it's past time for him to take on a live opponent and sink or swim.

    Universum is the same. We'll see low-risk opponents for Boytsov and Chagaev on their Jan 28 card. And then there's Felix Sturm, the self-promoted boxer who protects himself from world-class opponents.

    The sport of boxing doesn't need more talented fighters, there are lots of them now. What the sport badly needs is better promoters.

    Eddie Hearn seems to be a breath of fresh air & isnt afraid to have his fighters fight the best.

    The sport is changing & the public wants to see more competitive fights.

    he may be a dickhead but with him in charge, you know the fights that make sense will get made. it's a foregone conclusion in his organization that the fights that are supposed to happen, will happen. say what you want about his personality but he works for the fans.

    Look to The Ali Act to find 1 of the culprist folks.

    The Firewall Clause is the problem in the USA. It is cutting off small time promoters and managers at the knees. It has killed the club fight circuit. And by extension that kills the am program.

    The Clause is only effective for 10-12 round fighters. The guys who are ready to make money and fight for belts. A guy can still manage and promote a guy in 4-8 round bouts. Which is ******ed....flat out.

    This funnels the top guys to the scum. It kills the little guys incentive to develop a fighter. It funnels the top fights to the scumiest commisions that make it damn near impossible for a fighter to financially afford to be able to even debut in their state. They are killing the grass roots while picking all the flowers. Rural boxing is kicked directly in the balls by this ****. It's basicly a Monopoly Clause written into the legislation by the Big Promoters best friends....cocksuckers like John McCain.

    Research your **** man. Since 96 when the Feds got involved in legislating boxing the 1st time what has happened to the US Am program? All the way down to 1 bronze. We can't go lower without medaling. Look at what has happened to the number of club fights in that time....a nose dive. Look at the number of boxing gyms....nose dive.

    This **** is no different than the Fannie and Freddie legislation that crashed the Real estate market and stole all the little guys money and gave it to people like Dan Gilbert and Quicken loans. It's no different than the Banks getting bailed out while the Student Loans get pinned to the little guys for life. It's no different than 3% of the world holding 95% of the wealth. Compounded interest is a f'n sore on life when wealth is that consolidated. Boxing is a mirror image of the overall economy in the USA. The little guy has been sold out so that only scum can profit.

    He has a virtual Monopoly and many of his fighters are unhappy with the level of compensation. Boxing has a fractured top brass...nowhere near the same. Boxing has the worst model there is...limited competition. Monopoly is the easiest to operate. Complete competition would be better than boxing has as well.

    All of the promoters except Alledgedly and Sauerland seem lazy.

    The others wait too long before finding opponents for their boxers - for example, Arreola still doesn't have an opponent for his Showtime fight on Feb 18.

    Even the K-2's Loffler leaves something to be desired as a manager. He waits until a week or so before the fights to set the undercard fights. For example, there isn't a single undercard fight made for Vitali's Feb 18th fight or Wlad's March 3rd fight. K-2 promotes some good fighters like Baysangurov, Bursak, Ustinov, Banks, and Afolabi, but they usually wait too long to find meaningful opponents.

    Only if they are in his organisation. MMMA is similar enough. UFC fighters only fight UFC fighters, the same as Arums fighters only fight TR.
