Haye won the title off Valuev

Povetkin won the vacant title in a fight against Chagaev

Haye first defence was John Ruiz

Povetkin First defence was Cedric Boswell

Haye second defence was Audley Harrison

Povetkin second defence was Marco Huck

    Pretty close imo

    Chagaev is better than Valuev.

You fool, stop refering to povetkin as any kind of champion.
Lets not give the wba what they want, which is credit for their bogus worthless belt.
The wba champ is wlad, povetkins title means nothing, haye's had little value but it should have belonged to wlad when he defeated chagaev.

In fairness Povetkin is doing what I hoped Haye would have done. He's fighting every 2/3 months taking out the fringe contenders and milking his title. I have no problem with that as long as he faces a Klitschko within 1 year after doing this, which is what his team have said they're going to do. I actually would have had no problem with Haye vs Harrison if he had of had another fight 2/3 months either side of it.

    Huck
    Boswell
    Chagaev
    Estrada
    Chambers
    Byrd
    Donald

He's slowly building up a decent cv now is Povetkin.

Correct. I hope he keeps up fighting every 3 months

Judging by his career and the career of those who did fight a Klitschko (Chambers) I think Povetkin did the right thing
He wasn't ready for a Klitschko

I wouldn't be surprised if Huck vs Povetkin gets far more viewers in Germany than Haye vs Valuev which also took place there. Huck is huge in Germany.

True, when he fought it at least generated buzz and got people talking.

Opponentwise and activitywise Pov clearly has the edge.
Only like said, Haye's title had at least some merit, because then the title wasn't Wlad's (due to bogus politics but hey...).
Povetkin's title has none. It was just created to give the WBA some control back over the heavyweight title (improving corruption) and get double the amount of sanctioning $$.

All in all, Haye was a bad beltholder... Povetkin is just a good contender who refuses to step up for a real title.

Haye defended his title against **** opponents, KO's and aged Ruiz or Harrison is nothing to be proud of, if he defended his title against guys like Arreola, Solis or even Adamek, he'd have something to be proud of Povietkin on the other hand is not the true champion, he's a champ on paper

This title wasn't created especially for Povetkin. Wrong. These are the WBA rules . At the majority of divisions we have super and regular champs, this is an old situation , I don't understand why Povetkin gets the blame as if he is the only one
I agree that this whole situation with the interim, regular and super champs is funny . Of course Wlad is THE absolute and undisputed champion
I even find funny the fact that we have 4 sanctioning bodies and 4 world champions. In every sport there is only one WC, not 4
But , OK, these are the rules...this is the situation

Haye was the only LEGIT WBA champ.

Povetkin is not and has never been.

    Haye fought a Klitschko.

Povetkin has been ducking them for years.
