I got the itch to make a case of being pro-HOF for Tarver about 6 weeks ago - after watching and getting as much tape on him as I could get.....I didn't see anything that merits it to me. I just dont think he's "that" good......

granted I'm no por-boxer, and could never do the things he does in the ring, I just dont think he's got the resume. Although he may still get in seeing as there are countless people I dont view as HOF worthy already in there

If you seriously think of putting Tarver in the HOF...then you might as well consider Glenn Johnson.....ridiculous ! :patsch

He beat a hall of famer twice, once by a brutal knockout, I think both him and Jones are the same age too, so both were older when they fought. He has impressive wins over Glen Johnson, Harding, and Griffin as well, which looks to better wins than what Calzaghe has at the moment.

To be a HOF you need to accomplish many impressive things in your career that stands out amongst almost every one else ! Winning belts in 3-4 or 5 categories is outstanding ! Making awesome fights with a bunch of pound for pound fighters is special, etc. Not 1 or 2 good wins...

Joe C's resume is weaker than an undergrad trying to land a job that wants 10+ years of professional exp
    :good

Not saying Joe didn't fight the best available in HIS weightclass....but never anyone that was *that* good

If he beats hop that will help solidify the case alot

    No

Two wins over a well-past-it Roy Jones, a win over Glen Johnson, and a win over Eric Harding don't add up to hall of fame status in my opinion. Especially when you consider he has losses to all 3 of those fighters as well as a loss to a 41 year old Bernard Hopkins who was moving up 15 pounds.

To become a hall of famer, Tarver would need to beat Woods, Dawson, and likely another title holder to unify three or more belts. But at this stage in his career where he looks to be a shot fighter, the chances of that happening are slim to none.

    Yep. And Hasim Rahma.

Tarver was in the right place at the right time to take down a shot fighter who didn't have the sense to retire when he should have,

Without that singular victory, Tarver is barely notable.

    Definitely not HOF material.

Definitely not. As Shake said, they let in too many people, but still, Tarver is not getting in.

Tarver was in his prime when he fought Jones, Jones was past his best when he fought Tarver. People with different styles age differently. Tarver would've gotten smoked against a prime Jones, I don't see how any rational, thinking person sees it any differently, considering what Jones did to Tarver level fighters and above in his prime.

Tarver beats a faded great twice, another fighter who beat a faded great, loses to a past it B-Hop, and he's HOF? I don't think so. The HOF has tane long enough letting in far more deserving fighters, Tarver is not a great, or close to it.

in todays hall of fame i think he will be inducted,

two jones fights, griffin, harding, glenn johnson and reggie johnson

if they inducted mcguigan, mancini, johanson and zamora

i think he gets in too.

I feel Tarvers wins are just as good as a future hall of famer in Calzaghe, the only difference is Tarver has about 15 less wins against weak competition and has lost against a couple good oppenents. That being said, if Calzaghe is a ATG like some already suggested, then Tarver who's not all that far behind resume wise, should at least be in the hall fame.

I just think many overrate guys like Calzaghe, but then underrate guys like Tarver, who have similiar resumes. I think if Tarver beats a Dawson, then I believe he earned the spot IMO.

    I don't think so personally.

He deserves credit for being the first to KO Jones Jnr - I will give him credit there.

If he only lost to Jones Jnr and Nard - It would look better than dropping a fight to Johnson or Harding - That hurts him in my view.

He went 2/2 as the Ring LHW champ - Losses to Johnson and a win, and a RJJ win and a Nard loss.

Going by the thread criteria It's not really the st

But look - Barry McGuigan made it into the hall and he only defended his WBA title twice so I guess anything is possible.

But I wouldn't vote for him if I was receiving a ballot.
