defence in general has become a lost art, not enough practice or implementation of it, it seems to be who can tough out the other these days by blocking punches with your face, but maybe we just dont take notice of those who do and will only appreciate them when theyre gone?
why has everything become a lost art extinct from jabbing, bodywork, inside fighting, and now even head movement? I have a few boxing instruction manuals on my computer from the 1900s and even the authors of those texts talk about jabbing and inside fighting being a lost art as the early 1900s. All these crucial skills are supposedly gone right before boxing even hits its golden era. wtf
It's usually bull**** that's why. Though there's no doubt imo this has been one of the weakst decades for the number of very technical fighters active.
Pretty much. It is kind of interesting that the fighters in the 1920's through the 1960's were very skilled at head movement. Then somehow the blocking defense took over which is actually a decline in skill set to have to totally rely on blocking.
