A lot of people give JCCJR a hard time on this site.
I for one believe he merits a place in the top 15 and I think he is improving all the time. Ok he wants no part of Martinez but I am not questioning his commitment to being the best at 160.

Whay I am questioning is if he is any good. I think he is good but not great. But I personally think he is improving. I also think this fiugh with Rubio will be very exciting and could go either way. Rubio is a step up. That said - predict a narrow decision for JCCJR.

That could be the most contradictory statement I've ever read, mate

If you want to be the best at 160, currently, all roads go through Martinez, period.

On topic, he's improved since joining Roach & Ariza, but he still has a long way to go. I think the fight will be close as well, not sure which way to call it.

If he beats Rubio, CONTROVERSY FREE, then I'll accept him as a Legit Beltholder. In the same breath, Belt holders should fight the best competition available.

He's already proven to be more than decent. And anyone with a working set of eyes can see his improvement over the past year and a half. Doesn't mean he's a world beater or some P4P king, but he's not he terrible fighters many think he is.

I don't actually consider Canelo to be better than JCC Jr.

Rubio is a start. but the whole thing avoiding Martinez and the way he got his title makes it really hard. ill give him all the credit when he defends that title against Martinez even if he gets KOd.

Yes. For me, Rubio is the favorite in this fight, though I'm not as sure he's going to beat Chavez as I was 6 months ago. Chavez is a huge MW and has good boxing skills.

I'm real worried if Lawrence Cole will be the ref again. All Julio will have to do to win the fight is stun Rubio and throw out a flurry and they'll give him the win. If that scenario happens again, I'll lose respect for Chavez for looking protected. Manfredo was starting to tag him, and after that flurry Chavez may have been gassed. Rubio is sharper, smarter, and more deadly than Manfredo, I'm hoping he'll be carefull as I expect Chavez will be outboxing him early on.

I'd rather see Chavez face Martinez, if he beats Marravilla, then he deserves respect

Rubio is just slightly above decent. just shows how light regarded chavez jr. is.

He gets a lot of hate. Maybe deservedly so. But I hope he looks good against Rubio. Would be nice to see him prove the many harsh critics wrong.

    i already admit he's decent...
he's gonna beat the brakes off rubio

that doesn't mean he won't get obliterated by a legitimate middleweight like sergio, or macklin, or pirog, or golovkin, or frickin pavlik if he can make 60 again
