At 140 Chavez is way overrated, but he's better than Pacquiao. At least he has some defensive abillities. Chavez by late round stoppage.

It is obvious that you have not seen a Prime Chavez in action he was not your typical pressure fighter. His defense is tighter than that of Pac.

watch so you see that you don't know what you are talking about

With regards to Pacquiao no one should take Isal's post seriously about Pacquiao, this man is pure hate and bias. The man has been proven wrong many times, and yet you will never see a good props from him to Pacquiao.

One has shown to be very vulnerable to speedy southpaw fighters and the other thrives on come forward fighters.

    You tell me.

I grew up in the 90's so yes maybe I caught Chavez in the tailend of his career. I am, however, well aware of JCC's fights against Meldrick, Sweetpea, and to a lesser extent Randall. These three fought in different styles, and on different levels of prestige and greatness. They do share a common denominator though---varying degrees of success against JCC. And beyond that they're all quick-handed, fleet-footed, fast-twitch athletes. Lo and behold, I've also described Manny Pacquiao sans actually fighting Chavez and being black. I mean before we even delve in to the stylistic matchup we can already infer that Pac holds physical advantages that would trouble Chavez. Afterall, Pac's greater than Meldrick and Randall by leaps and bounds and is at least on par the conversation with SweetPea. So just considering this, what logic can we glean from a fantasy matchup between the 2? Is it a walk in the park like certain Chavez sentimentalists would suggest? Or jeez, easy knockout according to some of yall? Seriously, it's downright hilarious.

Against Manny, Chavez is gonna have to go to war. Against the most talented offensive fighter he'd ever faced, he's gonna have to get hit...get hit often, and get hit hard. No doubt, JCC could quite possibly be the most macho mother****er in Mexico, but as in most wars, the one with the bigger guns usually wins (in this case faster, more frequent, more explosive guns) And **** man, like I've said before...if Pac tags Chavez over 300 times the way Taylor and Pea did,.....he's gonna go down and he's gonna get hurt. There's the main difference between Pac and the other three...he has the quality to go with the quantity. Speed kills son, and it kills more effectively when there's more pop behind it.

According to "Boxing Experts," Pacquiao loses all fantasy fights.

the more I think about De La Hoya Pac, the more I think it's a one sided annhilation no matter how shot Oscar is.

Pac is one of those guys you just have to get in the ring and see how the match up goes, and even though he didn't fight much at 140 he looked to be pretty perfect; Chavez is the ultimate ordinary fighter: no speed, nothing flashy, pedestrian if effective movement, but when he got in there it all worked for three reasons: excellent instincts, a pretty hard punch, and INDESTRUCTIBILITY. His instincts were just those of a natural born fighter.

He cuts off the ring better than Pac, but only the kind of flukish first Morales fight makes me question Pac's sheer domination through fast handed speed and his lack of trouble with a guy who fights just like Chavez but is more technical, albeit smaller: the left hook happy body punching Barrera. The left hook is NOT a good weapon against Pac.

Morales is a taller right hand punching kind of guy, I can't see this as a stylistic thing for Chavez, but maybe his intangibles will rise to the fore. I feel like Chavez is the greatest ordinary fighter of ALL time. That slipping was good, but his athleticism is not in the league of other ATGs. Just his intangibles.

Manny, a blown-up lightweight, took 240 hits from a 165lb Margo and was fresh enough to throw over a 1000 punches. What's that tell you about his conditioning and punch resistance? Chavez is not a lights-out power puncher per se, he's a thuddder. He's you're quintessential pressure fighter. They start slow but keep plugging away, work the body in hopes to wear the other guy down. That's how Chavez usually gets his ko's. Against a guy like Pac, that tactic never works. Chavez can't wear a guy down who matches his chin, stamina, and endurance. The record will show that Pac starts fast and finishes strong. Sure you can land 200 punches on him, but that can only mean he's landed 400 on you and you have a broken orbital bone.
