American Heavyweight Joe Hanks 18(12)-0 fights Rafael Pedro on February 4.

    Hopefully he goes 19-0 with 13 KO's!

I see Joe Hanks as the thrid if not second American Heavyweight prospect.

He is a big, tall, strong guy. He is 6′ 4″ (193cm) and about 240-250 lbs.

Much stronger and with a better chin than Deontay Wilder. I think they have faced the face quality of opponent. I rank them at the same position.

    Only behind Seth Mitchell.

    Nah.

I am not dissing the guy- I only watched his early fights on Youtube and its entirely possible that he has improved,. But what I saw is a guy who squares up wtih his overmatched opponent and walks in with no movement or defense.

Not a good style for a guy who really does not punch his weight, either.

Relatively podestrian KO percentage for a guy with such physical tools.

Hanks is being brought along slower than Wilder. and it's really no wonder as his face first style of offense is really gonna get him hurt vs another big puncher.

Problem is, with guys like Fury, Chisora, Helenius, and Pulev, and Perez fighting names so early in their careers, and winning nonetheless, guys like Wilder and Hanks are getting passed by.

Chisora and Fury fought once, and now, Chisora has fought and arguably beat Helenius(albeit he was injured).

Guys like Hanks and wilder should take note. There are so many decent higher level journeymen out there to choose from that these guys are wasting prime years by fighting sideways and backwards instead of moving forward with their careers.
Hanks could have gotten Ortiz or Pala. Wilder could easily get Perez. No doubt these would be tough fights for the Americans, but the Cuban fighters would certainly take them on any notice really, and for any money.

At least for the UK prospects, their journeymen are well regarded since the sport is so popular there. So when a guy like Price or Fury beats a UK journeymen he's lauded. The US journeyman aren't so popular.:tired

Stronger? He couldn't take out Escalera like Kayode did.

No way. Faruq was just an actor and his opponent was handpicked. Even against them , Faruq Saleem was dropped.

    So true, so true :deal

And Kayode couldnt knock Felix Cora Jr, Matt Godfrey and Nicholas Iannuzzi out. Give me a break.
