Surely though, the American Champion, on an American Network deserves a minimum of 50%, preferably 60%. And no I don't believe Ortiz deserved the lion's share of the Mayweather fight, however that isn't the situation here is it.

Mayweather hadn't just been beaten by Ortiz, and he was chasing the rematch. Khan is, and initially offering less than 50% and then acting all suprised and saying Peterson doesn't want the fight etc is to put it simply, stupid.

Like I've said before if Peterson tells Khan to go **** himself I couldn't blame him one bit.

I think you should read Uncle Rico's posts in this thread http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=376448&page=8

If they were talking about a 50/50 purse split then I'd agree with most of you but if people bothered to look at and digest the Schaefer comment then they would realise it goes beyond that.

Khan's the one with a HBO contract that guarantees him something like $1m per fight. And he brings Sky money (however much that is) to the table.

Peterson doesn't have any deals like that lined up and I'm guessing unless he fights Pacquiao he's not going to make the money Golden Boy are offering him. It's **** yeah but that's just how it is.

Reading on the Ring site that Arum wants to do Pac/Bradley and JMM/Peterson...I'd love to see that fight!

Peterson's not bringing deals to fighters, fighters are bringing deals to him.

If Khan fights him, he brings the HBO date, the venue, the UK **** and everything else that comes with it, not Peterson. Peterson is just a fighter with two big bargaining tools (his belts).

Same thing if Marquez ends up fighting Peterson.

He certainly isnt any Mayweather. If Khan wants the fight and any chance to win Petersons belts, he'll have to accept the fact that hes the challenger and not the champion.

Khan is better known, but the fight wont be PPV over here, and Im not sure hes a massive PPV draw in America either.

The long and short of it is Khans team will have to swallow their pride and offer Peterson the money he feels he deserves...and there'll be no fight unless that happens.

Jun, give it a rest. ****, your posts have been utter rubbish with little logic behind them.

Actually go read Uncle Rico's posts. If you can't understand the business aspect of it, then go learn about it, because your repetitive...'He needs to give them a fair share, more money' and all that is all you've been saying. Peterson is a fighter with two belts, nothing more. He brings a win over Khan and holds two belts. That's his big bargaining chip, yes, but he does not bring the date, he does not bring the network and he does not bring every other thing that could possibly revenue the purses they would receive, which is why it's team Peterson who are reviewing offers that they have RECEIVED. They aren't in the position to give offers to other fighters as Peterson's a free agent and has little power in terms of grabbing hold of the venue and all the other things I've mentioned. (That's a promoters job, something they don't have. Understand?)

Also, if you've noted, Team Peterson have said nothing, absolutely nothing about the money whatsoever. For them it's not about the money, it's more about the right business and life decision for Lamont.

Why read it again? I don't agree with him on this. Khan is the one chasing this rematch and he can't be the one sending out 40/60 offers and then turn around and say it doesn't look like Peterson wants the rematch. In regards to Rico, I assume you mean to the post that ends with this gem.

"Did Mosley get more money than Oscar in the rematch? Or Margarito against Cotto? Rahman against Lewis? I doubt it. That's not how the business of boxing works."

For a start anyone who suggests that Khan is anywhere near the level of De Le Hoya in terms of popularity (and thats the reason he got more money) needs to be sectioned, so that comparison is immediately irrelevant. The rematch will be on standard HBO not PPV therefore the reasoning that Khan brings in more PPV buys (which I'd doubt in regards to America anyway) is redundant. The Margarito-Cotto rematch wasn't immediate and it was after Margarito had been banned for the handwrap incident and after he'd took a pasting from Pac. Also by the time the second fight came around it was Cotto who held the World Title, not Marg. The Lewis-Rahman rematch is even easier, it was a pre written clause from the first fight which determined the rematch.

And in regards to the De La Hoya fight nobody forced Shane to take the fight, just like no one is forcing Peterson to take the fight. My point is, if Peterson walks away from these negotiations because he isn't satisfied with his share, as the Champion I'd respect his decision and even be inclined to agree with it. Khan has hardly showered himself in glory the last month or so and I can only imagine how Peterson must feel after all this nonsense.

When you're chasing a fight, saying its the only fight you want, and you've already been beaten in your last fight by this opponent, offering LESS than 50/50 in your initial negotiations, especially when your opponent has more valuable options than you (Bradley, Pacquiao etc) is disrespectful to your potential opponent not to mention very narrow minded.

    :-(

****s sake Laz! I know you love Khan and all, but youre off your simple napper of you really believe all that crap!

I wouldnt repeat half the crap youve been saying, and it makes no sense to anyone other than a deluded nuthugger, like yourself and young Darni

The fact team Peterson havent signed for the fight should be enough to let you know it was a shite offer compared to other potential offers on the table

Khan is bigger than Peterson is America though He just has more profile, he on the media, talks well , they like his image. Peterson brings no name or glamour to the table, Khan has always traded on his big profile it's he's he's banked $20,000,000 so far. What's Khan's people are saying is Peterson will be well looked after financially, he will be hard for Peterson to refuse the offer, he will take it, if he wants the money.

Khan should just forget about Peterson.

The fact is if Peterson had lost his first fight against Khan then he would need a string of good performances to get his name at the top and fight for big money again. Khan has just lost a title fight but guess what? He can make similar kind of money in his next fight that's just the truth.

If I was Khan then I would let Peterson go on and fight who he wants for less money lose his belts then work back up the hard way again (he's used to doing it anyway).

Khan's a weird case - he gets good money in the US from TV but he can't draw a thing. Putting a rematch in Staples Centre just equals a massive loss for GBP unless it stacks the undercard. If it happens, expect to see a double-header with Alvarez or similar.

Plus the reality is, if Khan wants the fight, he needs to make a big offer that eclipses the opposition. Yes, Khan is technically the money man in this fight, but if he wants his belts back he needs to make some sacrifices.

This is hilariously inaccurate. Khan is NOT big in the US - that's why they papered nearly all of his bouts except for Peterson, who drew in his home town. That's why that fight was there.

Khan does not talk well - he's a constant liability stumbling over simple sentences. The rest of your post is fanciful - Team Khan and GBP have poisoned the well with Peterson by acting like such children, so they need to offer the fight to Peterson on those terms.
