Am I being too hard on Billy Dib?

I honestly thought he was the next big thing in Oz boxing until he started reading the papers too much. Oscar sent him packing fairly quickly after the title shot that Dib got but really didnt seem interested in contending for come fight night. He seemed happy to just go the distance.But he still is young enough to turn the mental capacity around which is the main negative I see in him. He thinks he's top shelf with the champions but he's not just there yet. Certainly has the ability though. Only time will tell I suppose.

 

I think he has grown up a bit as far as maturity goes, and their were a few fights under billy where he did sit down on his punches a bit more and engage.

The question was whether he would go back to his previous style when faced with better opposition or a guy that can punch a little. He did just that when he won the ibf title.

I think its pretty clear...if a guy can punch or has decent skills...billy will always fight like that scared rabbit. And lets be honest...its as boring as bat ****, and unwatchable for more than a few rds.

yeah good fight for Kali,Walker is a step up from Kali's last few opponents..I doubt it goes the distance.

 

Mosley and De la Hoya dropped him like a bad habit very quickly...They would be pretty good judge of character when it comes to fighters..

He will get smoked of lose wide decision first top line foe he fights next.

 

i doubt Billy can perform under pressure if he fights a legit world class contender

His next opponent is ranked 9th best featherweight on boxrec. He was awful against Luevano and the Yamaguchi One HD debacle didn't help. He did challenge Chris John so at least hes showing a willingness to mix it with the best. Didn't see the fight where he won his World Title apparently boring. Good luck to him.

 

I know dib knocked back a daud yordan fight. But dont blame him at this point.
