Its not a joke fight - they all have easier fights. They just don't want to rock the boat before a Fury fight. Hey at least its keeping him busy and getting exposure (although limited) in the USA. Oh hang on but does this mean they'll build up a 'Twin Towers' fight with Fields??
no point him going to america now anyway he hasnt even won a british title yet better to do that when hes on fring world level.
Tyson Fury against Price wont happen this year..more likely in a title fight down the road. Fury will vacate the British title. This is an ok match up IF Price was fighting every month, the guy is a decent size, and never been knocked out. Maloney needs to arrange an April, and May outing. J. Blocus March F.Ahunanya April M. Sprott May Vacant British title
Looks like Fury doesn't want to make the fight quickly and it will go to purse bids where he may vacate.
Even a lateral move from McDermott would be acceptable. Not a huge step down. :-( (hell, Blocus isn't even a step down - he's a whole flight of stairs...)
Thing is I honestly dont think both teams will want it, Fury will fight a 'name' with the excuse that the 'name' is a better fight than Price....so a former champ in S. Peter, A. Harrison...for the commonwealth...perfect excuse. Price and his team will prefer the title vacated...he fights Sprott, Sexton, Rogan and maybe a world wide name...2013...both fight in a title eliminator or get shots. Vitali isnt going to be some mega dominant guy in 2 years..the guy fell over in the adamek fight...he looks vulnerable as strange as that sounds. Adamek was a never was at heavy but becuase Tomaz fought often and had a good statistical record then people got excited, Solis knee went but he outboxed Vitali...again Solis own fault. Wlad will be around But the WBA, and the WBC will be titles a lot of guys will go for in the next 2 years.
It depends, as a fighter this guy isnt anything but if Maloney is gonna make Price fight every month then its ok. M.Tyson fought 27 times in 20 months leading to a world title fight against Berbick...alot of the guys he fought were no hopers but it was the fact that he had to go out and fight, fight, fight...makes a proper pro. Also every now and then you will get some good stiff tests...Tyson fought J. Ferguson. M.Green, Tillis, M. Frazier, J. Ribalta in 20 months its not bad.
jeffries is (was) 14st a few weeks back...he's out in LA getting in shape and his hands are still ruined. don't think we'll see him until the end of the year
I think Price has suddenly piped up because he won the eliminator and now needs a real breakout fight. The history, the rivalry, the size, the title, the tv backing can make that fight his breakout fight. Fury can't vacate with credibility as the European belt is being fought for, so I don't know what his cover story is.
Price won't be making a US debut for a little while. As for Jeffries, we won't see him till next year. He might not even box again.
