It's certainly possible - not too many guys are hitting prime at 32.

Additionally, I wonder how much longer Bute will be able to stay at 168; the guy is massive at the weight and is tight even at the IBF weigh ins on the day of the fight, it seems.

Bute fans - how much longer do you see him be able to comfortably make 168? I suppose he only needs to make it 2-3 times more in any case.

According to his last fight with Johnson and Glen was never dominated like that,seems that he is going up. OK, Johnson said that he had elbow injuries and he said from the fourth round. pain was there, but after two rounds, we could see for the first time the road warrior very cautious of the punching power from his opponent.
So, from his last fight with S6 semi-finalist , he is not begin to slow down.

For me there is nothing to debate here. Bute was in his prime against Glen Johnson, 2 months ago. IMO his most difficult fight was Bika so I'm not using the "best win - best display" argument here. Against Johnson he showed that, when needed, he can be a different fighter and he's in no way a "one trick pony".

 

My response may seem stupid but I think Bute can retire at 168 if he wants to. But of course, he will probably go to LHW after he fights Ward.
What makes you think that he can't stay at 168? Are there rumors of him drinking too much beer ? Him being massive at that weight isn't a good argument IMO.

 

I saw in a thread (it was actually a really good post analysing the Ward / Bute matchup) where the guy suggested that Bute rehydrates around 14-16 pounds. I'm just thinking it can't be easy / good on the body to do that very often, and that it has the potential to add miles to the clock constantly draining down.

I'd say Bute moving up after the Ward fight (Win or Lose) is the probable outcome. More good fights to be had there as well.
