Legendary trainer Angelo Dundee passed away earlier today at the age of 90 in Tampa, Florida. “Angelo died suddenly and peacefully surrounded by family and friends,” Dundee’s family friend Rachel Charles. “He was very happy he was able to celebrate Muhammad Ali’s birthday was able to attend the Boxing Hall of Fame. He still had a lot to do but led a full and extraordinary life.” Dundee trained 15 world champions including Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, George Foreman, Willie Pastrano, Jose Napoles and Carmen Basilio. Last September Angie celebrated the grand opening of the new 5th Street Gym in Miami Beach, mere steps away from where the fabled gym once stood. Angelo and his brother, Hall of Fame promoter Chris Dundee, opened the original gym in 1951.
Some legendary names on his resume as a coach.. RIP btw, who was training Ali (or foreman?) in their fight?
I say this with complete respect to Angelo Dundee so don't anyone take this the wrong way... But this old ******* didn't "pass away!" "Pass away" infers that he was not as spry and active as Dundee was when he went out. He died suddenly of a massive heart attack... he didn't peacefully "pass away" in the night like you do when you have been in a retirement home for years, Dundee went out suddenly at the age of 90. That's what I'm talkin about! Respect! R I P Angelo Dundee One of the greatest people ever to be associated with the sport of Boxing
Wow, I've just heard him in a video 30 minutes ago... One of the greatest man we've seen in the sport. What a career ! RIP
