How much damage will Cotto dish out on the ropes?

Possible, If Cotto could land one of his best body shots on Floyd... the fight may shift momentum.

 

Floyd doesnt take much damage on the ropes. Backing up in straight lines is one of his 'flaws' but it dont hurt him much because he is slick on the ropes.

Yeah cotto should go to the body. I dont see him winning at all, I mean especially a UD, but as far as a strategy that is cottos best bet. The only way I could see him win would be a liver shot KO. Unlikely but you never know.

 

he wasnt willing to take advantage of Margarito on the ropes when he had the chance. something tells me he wont be as intimidated against maywether. id love to see it. mayweather is a genious against the ropes and Cotto is great body puncher.

 

Cotto also has a good stiff jab and work to the body. Can't count Cotto out but he is fighting Mayweather who is very quick and elusive.

 

I hope Cotto make him pay when Floyd backs up on the ropes. It's probably the only tactic that i don't like about Floyd's style even though he has had success with it. Once Cotto make him pay[which i hope he does], Floyd will move out of there and be force to pivot/side stepping more in the center of the ring.

 

By the 5th round, Cotto will be in retreat mode, so I doubt we will be seeing much of this.

 

If Mayweather wants to toy with Cotto on the ropes, Cotto wont land anything.

 

Cotto has regressed as an infighter and attacking fighters on the ropes.

 

Cotto(e) will try to close the distance with the double jab to put him in range to deliver bodyshots.

DLH was able to lessen the gap between himself and Mayweather a few times by jabbing his way in.

 

Oscar had a 2 1/2 inch height advantage, 10lb weight advantage, and a 1 inch reach advantage. A lil different then midget Cotto.
