Watch his fights on youtube. He stretched his elbows to disturb his opponents' face and to protect himself very often in each round, particullarly when his punches missed the target and also when he wrestled his opponents. This is not Thai boxing where you can use elbows against your opponents. If I were the ref. then he would be deducted 1 or 2 points for doing so, and If he wanted to switch to Muay Thai, C'mon man...I would be very happy to welcome him to my country.:D [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-m3EVllpeY&feature=related[/ame]

He sometimes uses his elbows/forearms to push off and create distance, but I've never seen him throw an elbow like they do in MMA.

he uses it sneakishly to create distance everyone knows this.. even before the ortiz fight because they kept bringing it up in the 247 and to the ref come fight night .. and he dident use the elbow inthat fight not even once!. there were some headbutts by ortiz but...

complains about dirty fighting then tries to headbut all night

Alright! Just watch the VDO. You can hear Joe Cortez warned him "watch your elbow."

That was a good fight, Hatton is the last proper test that Mayweather had. No one else has shown that kind of heart against Mayweather in recent years. Most just get in the ring with the intention of going the distance, Hatton tried to win.

Some fighters will push a fighter off with both hands when theyre laying on them against the ropes. That leaves you open for punches over the extended arms. This way you get them away from, and you're still in an offensive position

I'd say he arguably has the most effective set of elbows since Eusebio Pedroza.
