    CASE BY CASE BASIS!!!!

There's guys from back in the day that would have been dominant today and VICE VERSA:yep

There's this pesky thing called weight classes for the majority and that kind of elimnates the Steroids and some more 'advanced" training methods. Remember, they were swinging double bit axes and sledge's from the beginning. Running? SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!! 1 old timer i know, used to RUN 6 miles to his job at the rail road,WORK, then run to the Gym after that, then run HOME!! And do it DAY IN, DAY OUT:yep Think they werent in ****ing shape? Hell, THEY WENT more rounds and fought more fights.

Even HW's there was always big HW's and smaller HW's From the days of John L. Sullivan and Jack Johnson Until NOW. Wanna see a classic we only wish we could see type fight? Think Kelly Pavlik vs Stanley Ketchel, talk about a punchers paradise? What about a guy like Sam Langford who went from MW- HW? What about Sam Langford vs James Toney at 168 and a REMATCH at HW??? Plenty of old timers that could make great fights with current guys!! I'd love Henry Armstrong vs PBF at 130:yep The list could go ON AND ON!!!

When you are at the peak?? Its about talent, desire, and heart and smaller or BIGGER if you got it all together? You could compete from here 2 eternity:good

I agree that the old timers aren't always better than todays fighters, but I disagree with the Wlad hype machine that beens circling the forums for months now. Wladamir would not blow out all of them based purely on his size and power. The fact the guy has a terrible chin, which can't be debated because its there on film in past fights to see, totally nulifies the fact the guy is 6'6. If any of the great punchers from the past hit him, he'd be out of there. Corrie Sanders hit him, he was out of there. Imagine if that was somebody like Foreman or Louis.

Wladimir is a hype job, ridicliously overrated.

One correction: Langford actually went from LW all the way to HW. He fought everyone that would fight him from Joe Gans to Jack Johnson.

  4. Agreed, he's big so what:roll: he's chin is weaker than **** and he knows it, that's why he was hanging on to Sam Peter for dear life and should have been DQ'D for holding to damn much, the next time he faces a guy that can really whack he will be hanging on to him like a long lost Girlfriend, Foreman or a Prime Lennox Lewis would have beat the hell out of him..

The fact that he was able to accomplish all of that as a 5'1 guy says plenty about the state of the unevolved version of the sport that he fought in, rather than his own H2H ability.

    Cotto KO 1

    Mosely KO 1

    :good

He'd maybe make the B- level today. Probably could KO that joke Jermain Taylor and crack Pavlik's weak chin while he's at it.

    But beat real elite's? Yeah, I'm convinced.:yep

Thus your religious convictions tell you that short guys with crude boxing skills would get KO'd today in round 1?
Sorry but common sense and facts reveal otherwise in that boxers like Pac and Rocky often beat those with even the greatest of boxing skills.

You will instead have to convince us why people today are way stronger, faster, and more durable on average than those from little Walcott's days

How are today's fighters better? From what era do you believe we've evolved from? I can tell you for certain that in many circumstances boxing has actually devolved from about the 80's, considering the decreasing talent pool(most going to other sports).

From when do you think the more modern era started? Because he surely hasn't just continued to evolve. Every sport has it's peak. Boxing has long since reached it.

Ali would not have been able to beat either of the Klitschko's or Lewis.
