Lets be 100% honest here for a second. Cotto imo has 0% chance of winning. There isn't one thing he does better than Floyd in the boxing ring.

Floyd is turning 35 and looked a little rusty vs Ortiz, but he's also getting the benefit of being in the gym since July so idk. That could be a factor though

Only if inactivity and outside of the ring problems show up during the fight, or if cotto somehow gets a lead....

but honestly speaking....no...in my opinion he is a deadman...I will be surprised if this goes the distance.

I've been watching some of Mayweather's fights at 147 the past week and I rewatched the Ortiz fight a couple days ago. I thought he looked noticeably less sharp and quick than when he fought Marquez and Mosley, although he did look pretty damn strong. His legs look like they've slowed down considerably also compared to when he was fighting the guys like Baldomir, De La Hoya, and Hatton. He's taken on a different approach to fighting now in a lot of ways it seems.

He has the heavier jab, the more destructive body attack, less aversion to throwing after taking a punch or two, more straight up power, and recently has shown the better lateral movement & control of the center. Floyd is obviously the superior athlete and pure boxer with the stronger fundamentals and Ring IQ.

But besides that, the sport's has shown us that it doesn't take a winning list of pros and cons for one fighter to upset another, but the right game-plan(s), real hunger, and a 110% physical preparation.

cotto's body attack is over rated as ****. It was only good at 140 because he didn't face any good comp. Only other time his body work was relevant was against alfonso gomez.... floyd puts in better body work

Every thread related to this fight is solely focused on what Floyd is great at vs everything Miguel does wrong. You should do one of your breakdown threads on this one. Its hard to find another poster here who's un-bias and can provide a logical point of view.

What concerns me about Cotto is that he started off great against Margarito and looked like an improved fighter in the center of the ring, but then he started to run more, his offense became less sharp, and he decreased the frequency of his jabs. It went from being a fight where he was boxing beautifully in the center of the ring to a fight where he was moving a lot, retreating, and then planting every so often to throw potshots and combinations.

I hope he can maintain his sharpness long into this fight and throws lots of sharp jabs (doubling and tripling them up too) - kind of like he did with Yuri Foreman. It's obviously a different stylistic challenge than the Margarito fight, but as a Cotto fan, I worry about this version of Mayweather turning up the heat and walking him down later on.
