i love it on here fighters are either bitched about draining themselves to make weight and winning so its cheating but when they lose after draining themselves people ***** about it being unfair and they couldnt make the weight healthily so thats why they lost

the point of weight divisions are making fair fights and having dudes the same weight fight each other...that gets cancelled out by guys fighting in the wrong division.

for example alot of people say that the reason morales lost to barrera in the third fight is because he put too much weight on he had a 17 pound advantage over barrera but then when he loses to pacquiao its because he couldnt put the weight back on because he drained himself too much

Same day weigh in actually is more dangerous for the boxers health, that is why it was changed to 24-48 hours before.

    Re-hydration rule????

Pretty sure many here in ESB got pissed when they here fighters forcing other fighters to sign a supposed re-hydration clause in the contract. What is the difference between that and a mandatory rule?

Rules are the same for everyone, if his opponents are that much smaller they should fight at lower weights.

I think it's fair to say that this argument can be made from minimumweight to cruiserweight.
Some Cruisers rehydrate to 230. While guys like Pac fight about 148/149.

If Pac tried he could likely make 135 and same for May, but would they be as successful. That said, I think both could put on weight and make 154 or even 160 and still be successful.

It all boils down to ability and style in this game. Look at Ricky Hatton....the man walked around close to 200lbs, but he fought his best at 140. Obviously he was grossly obese at 200, but he was able to do it for many years, and his style was effective vs a certain type opponent. Then theres the current gripe about JCCJr......oh, how unfair....well, if he'd been KOd from being so drained just 24 hours prior....people would be calling him a glass jawed joke right now and saying he's stupid for trying to fight at MW.

If the kid can make 147, all power to him.....but guess what.....either Floyd or Pac, or even Brook, Berto, Ortiz all box circles around him and maybe even stop him.

He'll fight a slick fighter like Martinez after making the same mistake of ballooning again, and he's get outclassed......and HE ADMITS IT!:deal

no, adding 10 lbs IS fighting at your weight...adding over twenty is cheating imo...

Because most of the time when fighters demand their opponents do so, they are simply attempting to prevent them from coming into the ring at full capacity. If rehydration limits are the norm throughout boxing however, it's no longer a case of one fighter attempting to arbitrarily force a unique demand upon an opponent. The same applies to drug testing; one may be justifiably annoyed by the demands Mayweather or Pascal make in single instances while also recognizing that testing in the sport is woefully inadequate.

I understand the argument that 24 hours is a more sufficient time for them to recover and therefore healthier but i just dont think it's valid.

Same day weighins guys may cut 10lbs max. If you extended the length of time to 24 or more hours they'll simply cut more weight which negates the "health" advantage of a longer period of time to recover since instead of needing to recover from a 8lb rehydration its now a 17lb rehydration.
