Gairy St Clair praised Amir Khan's movement on Saturday, but recommended he wait at least 12 months before challenging for a world title.

Before the bout, St Clair stated that he did not feel Khan would be as quick as Zab Judah or punch as hard as Kostya Tszyu - two men he had sparred with - and he stands by this judgment.

St Clair was impressed with his movement and discipline, but feels he has some distance to go to live up to his hype. "He’s nothing compared to Zab Judah, I sparred with him a lot and he’s a lot quicker than him," St Clair told setantasports.com.

"His power is nothing like Kostya or those guys. I’ve been hit harder by smaller guys than him.

"I’ll say one thing for him - he moves well. He surprised me with his movement and he surprised me in that I thought he would come out rushing at his opponent, but he took his time and that was good.

"I usually wear guys down and get them in the later rounds, but I couldn’t get to him because of his movement. I take my hat off to him.

"He should wait at least 12 months before he fights for a world title. They should put him in with one or two tough fights – not as tough as me though.

"Then you can see how he goes. Right now, it would depend on who he faces."

I'd definitely like to see Khan wait 12 months.
All this stuff about trying to break Hamad's record is an unnecessary distraction in my view, and a potential disaster if they're not careful.

Warren has a tricky job in trying to hold back Khan without pissing him off to the point where he might lose him.

I defo agree, attempts to beat Nasim's record could backfire spectacularly, esp with 3 tough champions in the division at the moment too. In a way, Khan is unlikely that there isnt a weak fringe belt holder at the moment, like most other divisions have, and the two Diaz's and Katsidis are genuinely class opposition.

Who would be the most viable (aka easier) opponent out of the three though? Id go with Katsidis but even then, hes still top class and would be nothing like what Khan has so far faced
