After reading a few posts I decided to post this question just to see what ESB thinks.

I for one was rather annoyed at Pacquiao for trying to make Cotto come down in weight to fight him. Its not like Cotto was openly challenging Pacquiao to the rematch. They contacted him.

Look, the thing is Pac straight up beat Cotto into submission. He had his moments but he got his ass whooped. There's no point in sugar-coating it. He was made-to-order and Pac delivered.

Now here's what I don't get. After such a one-sided beat down. Why would Pac's team think they would need an advantage if a rematch took place.

With the first fight being so one-sided, why would they think a few pounds would change the outcome? I just don't get that kind of thinking. Where is the faith in Manny Pacquiao.

But screw his team. Manny's was on record saying that is what he wants so my question is this:

Is what Manny tried to do the act of a coward? All the haters and *******s can come guns(keyboards) blazin' if they want but this really is an honest question. I have never believed Pac needed any of those catchweights because I knew he would have beat them regardless. So trying to make an opponent he already smashed in a one-sided fight come down in weight again makes me think Pac or his handlers don't have much faith in his in-ring boxing ability.

Thoughts? Any chance of this thread staying civil.:verysad

Nobody recognizes that 8th title unless he fights legi opponents at 154, pac is a welterweight, thats his limit.
After marg he decided he wasnt fighting above 147 anymore, cotto had he chance but logically chose floyd.
its not a cowardly move by team pac but im happy cotto 2 didnt hapen, im more interested in jmm 4 or bradley.

Floyd wish he's half the fighter of what Pac is . In order for Floyd to be as great as Pac is he would have to beat Monte Barrett at heavyweight...remember :deal:lol:.

Hater translation: I'm not smart enough to logically discuss thread question so I'm gonna ignore it.

I get it. Thanks for giving it your best shot though.:good

True...you're not smart enough to discuss this kind of stuffs.

Well here's a tip...just ask Floyd why he's only half the fighter of what Pac is and he'll tell you :deal that what Pac is doing is equivalent as if he was knocking out heavyweight :hi:.

All of Pac's recent actions are predicated on a future fight with Floyd. Team Pac wants to stay at 147 so that Floyd can't demand a higher weight when they negotiate (remember that Pac didn't know yet that Floyd will be fighting Cotto a 154).

In the fight with Marg, the prospect of a supposed title at an 8th division was just too tempting for Pac to pass up. Once he got it, he went back down to 147 and made it known that he won't fight above 147 again.

If and when Pac-Floyd happens at 147, watch Pac become amenable again afterward to a fight at 154.

Then again, with Floyd now fighting at 154, it seems Pac's ploy would have come to naught.

There was a reason to why he let go of that 154 belt immediately.
You keep on imposing this stuff only to benefit your agenda.

So yes Pac is a coward. Whatever floats your boat.

pac isnot a coward, nor floyd but floyd is more business savy. fighters wanna fight if it was up to the 2 they would be on their 2nd or 3rd fight. that is what is wrong with the sport. but pac has got a lot of credit for beating people at lets say not their best weight, so big ups to floyd at fighting the next best thing at his best weifgt. just like he did with ortiz, what fighter has pac fought who was young and hungry in his prime like ortis?

Pretty sure PAc has been clear of not going pass 147 since Margo hit em in the body.
Maybe 150 and even then that is questionable.

Had emmanuel never said he isn't going to fight above 147 anymore, then it would, but since he said he won't, it isn't considerded a coward. How about you talk about boxing instead of always talking about Floyd and emmanuel. You seem to hate on emmanuel more than you talk boxing. But guess that's what you can expect from a troll.

I guess in the interest of keeping this thread "civil", I'll post the same reply that I hope everyone with a true interest in the sport will acknowledge:

Pac is not fighting above WW anymore. Period.
That has been agreed upon after his fight with Margarito for that paper title and was solidified when he let go of the belt.
This should be common sense to everyone who understands how career welterweights weigh on fight night.

The reason, for instance, why a fight with Sergio is impossible is because it can only happen at 150 (Pac's limit, but take note he won't even be touching that weight come fight night, which is pretty ballsy and stupid of Pac).

Also, nobody wanted a fight with Cotto.
Be it at WW or SWW, Pac will dominate him still.
He's simply too fast for Cotto.

I believe if anyone would want to make a case against Pac about weights, it will be about not wanting a fight at 140lbs (which I believe he can still make, albeit some drastic changes to his conditioning and training have to be made).

But then again there's nobody worthy enough there and since he ain't a career WW anyway, I don't mind the catch weights below of his current weight.

As proof of the above, see Pac-JMM 3.
Tons of haters in these boards who were whining about the catch weight were silenced when JMM came in heavier and Pac came in in nearly the same weight as he did when he was a LW.

EDIT: I voted "No" but not for the reason stated in the poll.

I have no prob with catchweights, but the way team pac is carrying it out is pretty cowardly imo, trying to get every advantage he can against cotto after already beating him handily.. yea, pac is a smaller fighter, but he's already considered to be an ATG and viewed highly that if he takes the easy way out in fights it's going to be viewed negatively by lots of ppl.
