Lot's of hype around at the moment regarding the success of British boxing and the good times look to be getting better but which hot prospect do you feel will have the least impact during 08. Which heavily hyped or talked about boxer do you think will do little to impress and still be the same position at the end of the year as they were at the start. For any given boxer give your reason/s. Granted we are talking about the level's the boxer mentioned is talked about achieveing such as Fewkes and Appleby are not expected to be world challengers but may get on the british scene.
Alex Arthur will loose to Joan Guzman pretty badly, and Woods will loose to Tarver and probably retire.
Oh wait Jamie Moore, Moore is gonna get dicked on as soon as he steps up to World Class bank on that!
Haye, he may well beat Enzo but he's too sloppy/ chinny to do much at HW. Granted, he may not get found out in 2008...but def. in 2009.
OK. How is this for a prediction. Joe Calzaghe to lose on points to Bernard Hopkins. Im sorry folks, but I think Calzaghe doesnt know what hes let himself in for here. & sadly, I think hes let himself in for a defeat! Hopkins is a NIGHTMARE to fight, & Joes walked into a trap by going overseas to fight this wily old dog. I said when Calzaghe beat Kessler he should retire while he was on top, but as usual money talks & Joe is going over to America. Bad call. Cos if a 43 year old fighter beats him? It totally ****s up Joes legacy. & thats the thing. Hopkins might be old, but hes one of a rare breed that doesnt show it in the ring... A high risk, low reward fight for Joe. & I think hes made a huge mistake. He should have fought anyone BUT Hopkins on his american debut.
You can take Calzaghe on points all the way to the bank IMHO. Its the closest to a sure thing you can get in boxing....
Hi Dunky, how are you mate? Yep I did, Wright was a ATG (IMHO) 154lb fighter but I wasn't impressed with what Hopkins did with him at 175. Over the last 4 or 5 years the only perfomance thats made me look twice was the Tarver win, although I thought he was unlucky against Taylor.
Im in agreement with you Dunky. I've thought for quite some time now that B-Hop will manage to grind out a win against JC but I've never really had the bottle to say it on a british forum lol. Hopkins as you say is a nightmare to fight and he knows all the tricks in the book, he has an uncanny knack of being able to nick rounds with his akward, ugly style and I reckon even though he is not getting any younger he has looked a far better boxer since moving up in weight.
