Is Cotto the best fighter Floyd has faced?

Not at 154 IMHO. Floyd has the longer reach, greater technical skill, better defense, and he doesn't gas.

Castillo when he got on his winning streak was the dominant lightweight and in his prime was underrated as ****. He had close win with Casamayor and should of had close win over Floyd. He wasn't as big a name as he should of been. He got kod early and late in his career, but make no mistake in his prime just a tough throwback beast. He was Rios daddy. He wasnt fast, but he could box and brawl with the best lightweights. And when he wanted he had bone crushing power too he could unleash. Durable as they came.

 

It's possible, considering he's not much smaller, not older, and has an elite repertoire of boxing skills.

Paez, Johnston, Bazan, Casamayor, Diaz, Lazcano, Corrales, and Mayweather. Castillo beat these guys in or close to their primes when Castillo was on or close to his. This guy by far is Floyds best win when he beat him in the rematch. The rest Oscar, Hatton, Judah, Mosley, and Ortiz all come with an asterick. Too old, too small, etc. Many say Corrales was the best win. Many will say even a past his prime Oscar is a better win than a prime Corrales. Could be true. Castillo and Oscar have the best arguments to be Floyds best wins. But not Cotto.

Yes, Mosley v Cotto was a close decision fight. Mosley just came off a huge stoppage victory over margo who just beat Cotto. Mosley was the top guy to beat at 147 at the time. Even pac could not stop an older margo than the one Mosley fought.

 

I would still have DLH over Cotto at this point. They did share a common opponent at 154, Mayorga, before facing mayweather and DLH performed far better against a much younger mayorga. But DLH's defense is what was key, roach did a good job on that aspect, maintaining a tight defense and using the jab won him a lot of rounds. I dont think Cotto can keep that tight a defense.
