Tyson Fury Vacates. Mick offered Price £100,000

I must be the only person on ESB who is happy this fight isnt happening right now.

It was a crazy fight to make, far too much risk for not enough gain.

Let both guys do their own thing for a while (Price on Sky & Fury on C5) & this fight will build & build.

This is a potential monster fight in the future. When both guys are at or near their best this will be a major event worth a lot more than it is now.

 

Whay can't they fight now and in the future?

Both can recover from a loss at this stage of their careers. I don't see what the problem is.

 

It doesn't make business sense for either to fight each other now, especially for Fury to break his C5 contract, no sense at all

Frank Maloney is going to town on Fury on twitter calling him a chicken and a disgrace to the traveling community

 

I don't think Maloney would be that adverse to Price fighting on Channel 5, there will be some sort of bull**** regarding the offer.

 

Well, this was always on the cards, nobody expected anything different. Disappointing but understandable even though I don't like it.

Sport is supposed to be entertainment, all the sad business arguments fall away quickly if the fans lose interest. Fighters are too often too risk-averse in the matchmaking to be truly exciting.

 

Hennessey is obviously so shocked to finally have a fighter who is being chased, rather than doing the chasing that he's started spouting absolute nonsense.

hennessy talk about world titles but if can't beat a 12 fight novice in defence of his titles what chance does at world level does he have.

Actually I agree with you. If Tyson was a 'Sky' fighter it wouldn't be such a big deal because they could rebuild him if he lost. But he is in a unique position having a terrestrial TV deal. If he lost to Price would that be in jeapardy. If so then this was far too big a risk for too little reward. Especially if the fight takes place on a rival TV network which wouldn't go down well with Fury's C5 paymasters.
I think Price is the business, but the general public don't know anything about him. So if Tyson loses against 'just another boxer' then he loses that aura. It's not as if he's lost to a Klitschko as far as the general public are concerned. Boxing fans know Price could be equally tough.
For what it's worth I suspect this is a promotional decision rather than Tyson ducking. What ever is said by pundits and other promoters I don't for a second think Fury is afraid of Price and reckon they'll fight a couple of years down the line with a bigger title on the line.
The one thing here though is Tyson has to keep winning. If he loses in the meantime I can't see Maloney bending over backwards to give him a shot at Price in the future
