Who else would have the gonads and derangement to say, "If I was 50 years younger, I'd kick your ass!"

 

Did anyone else notice during the Donaire/Vasquez fight he got Vasquez's name wrong twice? I think the first time he called him Marquez and the second time Alvarez (I might be completely off on the exact names, I was pretty drunk). Funny thing is he didn't even notice, and no one even bothered to correct him lol. His mind is going.

 

Every time a comment like this is made in a Larry Merchant thread, I ask the same question:

For all of Merchant's boxing 'genius' and experience, what have YOU ever learned new or interesting from him about the fight you' were watching or even about boxing in general?

Larry doesn't like a boxer unless he leads with his chin for 12 rounds and bleeds all over the ring, like Ward and Gatti. He's old, and he sounds like it, he's crochety and irritable during the interviews like the boxers are wasting his time, and he sounds drunk half of the time, with his 20 second pauses after Lampley asks him a question. Like Ali, he was great at one time, but it's over. As Roger would say:
