On March 24, Richard Towers will likely be fighting Michael Wallisch (8-0, age 26) for the European Union (EBU-EU) heavyweight title.

The EBU-EU (European Union) title is not the same as the EBU (European) heavyweight title.

its a start though he needs to start being moved up quickly because hes getting on a bit now and he needs to start pushing towards titles if hes ever going to make it.

People who win the EBU-EU (European Union) title are usually in line for a shot at the EBU (European) title.

Example: Robert Helenius first won the EBU-EU amd then fought for the EBU.

The EBU-EU is a good stepping stone toward bigger and better things.

I know who Towers is dude! He was sparked by Joshua in sparring. Not impressed by him in the slightest.

I thought the British board of control wouldn't sanction EBU-EU title fights?

I've seen this Wallisch chap fight a couple of times before and he doesn't look that bad, albeit against woeful opposition. Decent movement for his size. This looks a good even fight on paper between two big lads.

Yes, Wallisch has some skills and he was in excellent shape for the fights I've seen. He has one good win over Yakup Saglam who was 27-0 at the time (although with a very padded record).

i was saying that about him 2 years ago...i dont think he'll amount to much, based on they would have moved him on much faster than this, considering his age, if he was worth his salt.

I know there was talk of Fury facing Towers for this title so if this fight comes about I would say it's possible that Towers has faced a far more dangerous opponent than Fury ever has. Yes Fury beat Chisora but let's not kid ourselves, that version of Chisora was a disgrace. Having said the above I still would say I've been impressed with Fury's matchmaking so far. Richard Towers vs. Michael Wallisch will be a damn good fight if it comes about with the winner taking a massive leap up in my rankings.
