On this edition of "Noche de Campeones" (Night of Champions) - there are no title legitimate enough to warrant the 12 round distance on the line.

Rios just won the interim WBC Latino light flyweight title with his KO of Solano.

Mosquera and Castillo are about to clash for the 140lb version of the exact same thing.

Walter Castillo is out to something with trumpets, a tuba, a rolling drumbeat, and some fast rapping in Spanish. :huh

The hook sounds a bit like a South American ripoff of Eminem/D12.

Here comes Vicente "El Loco" Mosquera, using a more laid-back and traditional tune for his ringwalk - just deep crooning male vocals and congas.

Mosquera is 32 years old and 1.73 meters tall with 78" reach.

Castillo is 23 years old and 1.79 meters tall with 81" reach.

The tale of the tape favors Castillo, but location and experience Mosquera.

    Round 1

Mosquera jabs Castillo in the belly. Hooks to the body now. Castillo tries to bend over to his left and get leverage on his own low hooks, but Mosquera keeps moving and keeping his defense assembled tightly to block headshots with his gloves and body shots with his elbows. The referee warns them to keep it clean after some infraction up close - either a butt or a low blow. Jabs by Mosquera. Clinch. Body taps by Mosquera. Castillo lands a 1-2 just at the bell.

    10-9 Mosquera

It only just now occurred to me that the running theme of literally this whole card has been Panamanians vs. Nicaraguans. :patsch Without a single deviation.

Not only the four televised bouts, but all seven. (and come to think of it, even the first three were partially televised due to the highlights of Jurado vs. Mulgrave when they first went on air, and the tape-delayed snippets of the girl fights later on).
