Does anyone else think Peterson would have beat the hell out of Marquez?

styles make fights. i think this fight is a toss up it could go either way . let me jst say nowone beats the hell outta marquez unless ur mayweather

 

Despite how the US media played it - Chris John clearly beat Marquez - on that fight alone I'd give Peterson a decent chance. Wouldn't bet money on it , but wouldn't be suprised by a close decision win.

 

Like i said Peterson vs marquez would be like Duran Davie moore Pete is not just ready for Marquez

 

I've always said Lamont should never be overlooked. If you thought he won or lost vs Khan it was a close difficult fight for Khan. Lamont same guy that got his ass beating but also gave one to Floyd in sparring not too long ago. He's not one dimensional. He's one of the smartest of the current generation and he'll brawl with the best of them and box like he did vs Ortiz. What impressed me about him in the Khan fight he knew he couldnt outbox him he adapted and used pressure. Same vs Ortiz he knew he'd get kod if he went toe to toe he found openings and boxed Ortiz to survive the fight. Whether he boxes or brawls he's more than game for Marquez, but Marquez probably lets Lamont get comfortable somewhere in the fight till Marquez surprises him with an uppercut from hell. Juans combination punching and underrated power would surprise the younger bigger fighter. In his mind he'd think "Man Floyd made it look so easy." Marquez on a MD or SD12

 

Peterson is good no doubt but he doesn't fight like Marquez.

 

I have to disagree. Pacquiao does a number of technical things that allow him to outbox larger men and compete with a boxer like Marquez; it takes more than quickness and toughness to do so. Peterson may have more conventional technique and switch up his game more, but that doesn't mean he operates at a higher level. You're right in that styles make fights and Peterson VS JMM is different than Pac VS JMM of course.

Would have been a great fight a good young guy vs a great experienced old fighter.

It would've been a terrific, fan-friendly fight, but that he would have "disposed of Marquez without much issue" is something I can't even imagine, frankly.

 

No. He has a higher chance against Khan than he does Marquez. More money too? He made the right move. No way Peterson beats P4P elite like Marquez.

 

I think a Khan rematch is much more the winnable fight for Lamont and what's to say if he beats him for a second time he won't get the Manny fight?
