Hurt badly might be a bit strong. Obviously fighters are often hurt and come back, I was just using the comparison of an old, inactive right hand puncher being able to hurt him, in a potential matchup with possibly the hardest hitting welter ever.
yeah, it's a good point when you put it that way, Hearns is no joke for fighters looking to out box him, I couldn't see it going Floyds way at all, it's just not going to happen
Let's be honest....only about two or three guys could claim not to be severely outmatched by Hearns!!! Not a fair matchup for many if we're being fair!
yeah, so true, what a ****ing disaster it would be for any mortal fighting him in his prime, and even an immortal suffered that fate too!
Ever heard the saying a fighters punch is the last thing to go? Personally I think it is easy to look back and overestimate fighters of past years - giving them god like status - and underestimate current fighters when comparing. Hearns was a freak of nature but Floyd technically is a better fighter in my opinion. I couldn't name one fighter at welterweight right one who would even trouble Floyd...
I agree, but it doesn't translate into a win for Floyd in this scenario imo, Hearns has a styles advantage. It's all about effectiveness.
I didn't say I think Floyd would beat him only that technically he was a better fighter. Hearn's was an animal, ridiculous size of a man for a welterweight. It is easy to diss Floyd's record at 147 or whatever but really who out there is going to beat him at that weight just now? I don't even think Pac can touch him.
Lol @ Dunk! Hearns is probably the greatest Boxer of all time. Floyd is better in the Defence department, nothing else.
go and check out the 'dad on facebook' thread in the lounge mate, you'll thank me, make sure you watch the whole vid though
