And you have CONCRETE evidence to support this claim? And say what you said is true. Maybe Hopkins thought fighting Calzaghe did nothing to him as he was a relative unknown until he beat Lacy. And this was back in 2002? Come on.

I said in his 9 of his prime years, he fought no one. That's fact.

He took the WBO title from Eubank, and sat on it fighting almost all no names in the next decade (1999-2006). Then, he fought a couple of big fights. WOW.

Of course he would. People can say what they want, I don't give a ****, but in my stinky little opinion joe would have beaten Hopkins at any point of his career.

Whatever the result both sets of fans will claim and counter claim. I jst want to see a good clear cut fight with little controvesy where JC wins.

If JC does not win it will be becuse of those American judges and ref and nothing else.

    Again agreed.

Are any Joe C fans going to deny that he took the safe route by staying in a weak division all these years instead of moving up or down to fight other top guys in other divisions? Yeah, that thing called a catchweight. How about that? He simply chose the easier path and his legacy will pay for this. Maybe he was an ATG and we would've seen it but we will never know.

Taylor and Hopkins didn't want him because he was unkown in the USA and wasn't a good risk/reward ratio; are these the big fights you're referring to?

If, on the other hand, you are referring to Ottke, Johnson etc...than aye, I agree with you...

He didn't got old, he IS old.
Depending on how the fight turns out, it might be a valid excuse.

Yes, I have concrete evidence. I have Bernard at my house right now and he said so.

Don't be ridiculous! It's just common knowledge. Warren has talked about it, as have plenty of other people. Do you think that if Warren had gone about telling complete lies Hopkins wouldn't have addressed the BS and put facts straight, or do you think he allows people to talk complete crap and fabricate stories?

Regarding Joe being "relative unknown", listen, you are supposed to fight the competition that's out there, not just fight who has a big name so you can make loads of money. I don't agree with that shady business in boxing. Face it: Hopkins ducked Joe and priced himself out at the last minute. Joe tried to make the fight and it very nearly happened. Bernard was the one who pulled the plug at the last minute.

You could also argue that Hopkins fought big names - RJJ, Tito, De La Hoya etc - But he Lost to RJJ & Taylor, the rest were too small & Tarver is crap.

Thats exactly WHY Calzaghe couldn't get the big fights without getting ripped off.

I don't think it's possible for any fighter to look good against Winky. I was so impressed with that Tarver fight. I just can't see Joe beating Hopkins.

Weird, just made a post about this.

Im not hearing excuses from the ones favoring Hopkins...but Im hearing a hell of alot of pre-made excuses for Joe.

    :huh

  15. Joe chased Hopkins and Hopkins ran plain and simple.

Joe fought the guys he needed to fight to rack up the wins even beating some ex and current champs as well as premium contenders oh yes (JUST like Hopkins) , forget reid, veit did we?

The difference is Hopkins lost to the MW no.2 TWICE and went onto fight a really linear southpaw @ LHW.

People dodged Joe cause risk v reward and Joe knows how good he is, why should he be the one to fight outside the UK? only now is he doing it cause he only has 1/2 fights left.

People forget Hopkins was happy to 'rack up wins' until Jermain kicked his ass. If he was so sure vs Jones in a remacth too then why no 40% purse? Why no Toney? Why the midgets DLH / Tito?
