WOW....Im shocked by the feedback from this. Both weights Cotto wins big time with a KO...Im sorry I like Hatton as much as the next guy but he doesnt stand a chance in this...Cotto has the option of boxing him or taking his head off with combos that Hatton will not be able to walk though! Still wouldn't mind seeing it because it could have some interesting moments as cotto folds under pressure
They both dealt with Maussa similary. Both brutalised Paulie, Hatton arguably more dominant, past prime. Would Cotto have taken Tszyu's shots and attacked him so viciously? I'd go as far to say the 140lbs Cotto would have lost handily to Tszyu. Plus Collazo was at WW, his first fight there and was visibly the smaller man.He also WON the fight. I favour Cotto in this but it would have been an epic at Hattons peak, no way Cotto would've just blasted him out, not a ****ing chance.
Firstly Im a big Hatton fan , but I cannot agree with you on the Maussa point . Both stopped Maussa in around 8/9 , Hatton by a great left hook and Cotto on cuts. But the big difference was that Hatton left the ring cut over both eyes (punches , not head butts) and Cotto barely stepped out of second gear. Hatton was always too easy to hit at world level and this would have been his downfall against a 147 cotto. I think he takes a 140 Cotto , but only just and this is because the pace would have been too high for a weight drained Miguel.
I could see Hatton potentially mugging Cotto at 140lbs, but it'd be a hard fought win if he was going to get it. Cotto was sturdier at 147lbs and I could see him dealing with Hatton at that weight.
At 140lbs I'd favour Hatton but at 147lbs you have to go with Cotto. Hatton looked like **** at 147lbs.
This, people forget how good Hatton was pre Kosta. But Cotto was way more suited to 147 and Hatton was just too small. He used his size to his advantage at 140 and at 147 he just didn't have that size advantage. And Hatton was never the same after the Kosta fight, that night he gave it everything he had and it took something out of him
cotto at any weight with ease hatton is monstrously rated on these boards not even overrated as i find it difficult to rate him at all really he'd beat cotto in the battle of the rabbit punch......matthew and him are the equivalent of the klitschkos when it comes to those
What a joke Cotto would easily ko Hatton at either weight. Why even bring up kostya. Kostya was fighting his very last fight as a professional in a long career against Hatton. How far is a guy from even being close to his prime when hes fighting the very last fight of a long career. These english fans will never forget that win ricky had over a kostya that was way past his prime when ricky was in his own prime.
