Tubbs in a close 12 round decision, but he would have to get off the floor to do it.I think Cleveland gives Tony problems early, but afterwards, Tony's skillset takes over and controls Williams.
Would be an interesting fight. It's worth noting that it was a left hook that Tyson blasted Tubbs out with (The Big Cats money punch). I would make Tubbs the slight favorite to take the decision though
Crazy match-up. Williams takes it pretty easily. He hits like a truck, wasn't too fast and was a decent all round fighter. He had a suspect chin but what a lot of people unfairly judge him on is the Ali fight. He was shot a few months before that fight and lost like 30lbs. He was never the same Cleveland Williams. Williams KO, somewhere between the 3rd-5th round.
Except for teh STICK-THIN BEANPOLE young, green Earnie Terrell who was a life-threateningly malnurished 197lbs @ 6'6 in 1962, name 1 half-decent heavyweight Big Kitty ever stopped?? :think
God post,Hook :good Tubbs annoyed me. All the talent in the world, but no discipline. And he'd quite often show up in the kind of shape that his name 'TUBBS' suggested. Like so many of the 'Lost Generation' of 80s heavies, like Witherspoon,Dokes and Page.
Good post yourself, Stevie. :thumbsup Tubbs had a shitload of talent, But he was way too commonly a LAZY-SLOB in training. It is ironic though, cokeheads are not usually fat!!
Tony Tubbs by decision over Williams as long as he's focused and boxes like a pro, or Williams gets lucky by clocking and stopping a sleep-walking Tubbs... MR.BILL
