Dereck Chisora Statement

I see your angle but for me they should be treated the same as Joe Bloggs and not as rich Sportsmen who are immune to prosecution. Chisora acted like a complete wanker but even still it was Haye that landed the first punch and he should never have got himself embroiled in this ****. He wanted to make the press conference about him and talk his way into a fight with Vitali. Chisora no matter his previous actions didn't deserve to be punched whilst his hands were down.

Haye stole his fight against Wlad and Chisora was unhappy with all of that so I get his beef, not that it justifies his actions. But for me I find Haye the main instigator in the scuffle, he could of walked away or told Chisora to stay away from him. Instead he throws punches at him and lamps people around him with a tripod. I wouldn't expect to get away with what he did sp why should he expect to?

I doubt a court would agree with you. Chisora had no need or right to approach Haye. And he did assault him first, if you go by the legal definition of assault.

 

Haye acted in self defense. If a lunatic and his posse threaten you, stride up to you and invade your personal space, common sense dictates that you defend yourself physically if that's possible. Haye started the verbal confrontation, but Chisora escalated it to a physical confrontation and that's a lot more serious morally and in the eyes of the law.

Neither of them should be severely punished legally, though, nor should Chisora lose his boxing license. I doubt that this would be treated as a serious crime were it a fight between commoners in the street. However, the BBBofC should ask Chisora to do something, for example to apologise in person live on TV and do some community service with inner city kids - otherwise his license does get revoked. Haye should be warned that any further nonsense will lead to his being unable to regain his boxing license in Britain should he attempt to do so.

 

My point is more that they should be punished the same as a man on the street would. Haye could of pushed Chisora away, he didn't need to push. Self defense is all well and good but a heavy punch can be constituted as excessive. It was for me anyway.

 

If he'd pushed him away Chisora would've lamped him.

lets be really honest though.....Chisora was asking to be hit and he was...then he goes about about being glassed. It was a sweet left/right combo, take it like a man Del Boy if your big enough to go up to Haye and go head to head, don't whine like a ***** when he gives you some.

 

I would say Haye has a reasonable chance to successfully plead self defence in this case.

Chiosra threatened to slap Haye more than once during the week, Walked 20 feet towards him in a threatening manner, took his jumper of, talked his entourage to follow him and get behind him and then stuck his fist in Haye's face.

Haye did not reach for the bottle so he can't really be accused of intentionally attacking Chisora with it. He was faced with someone who in his reasonable opinion was about to attack him and he defended himself. If you have a reasonable belief that a threat to your safety is imminent seld defence can apply. The tripod will be harder to argue but again Don Charles charged him and the tripod was right next to Haye both these would help his defence.

Chisora's Lawyer on the other hand is going to struggle. He already has prior conviction for violence. Threatened to shoot and burn Haye and at one point found his own bottle to attack Haye with. In his defence he didn't really throw any punches but its clear the intention was there.

Overall though i would be surprised that the German Prosecutors would go ahead with this case. I'm not familiar with the German legal system but in this country i'd expect both of them to get off.

 

Common sense tells me you are related to David Haye in some way. Either that or you you are mentally limited.
