Tyson was the single punch knock-out artist. That big right hand in round 4 (at 6:10) was one of the most powerful punches that I've ever seen in the history of boxing. So amazing Holmes could get up after he took it. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSb4-ejQavw[/ame]
Holmes had a solid chin and a big heart, yet is still one of the most hated fighters due to the Ali bout. Shame.
you cant blame him for taking that fight.. he got so much exposure out of it.. but it really was sad what happend incidents like that should be the reason behind a govening body NOT allowing a fighter to continue fighting profesionly after they are clearly shot
At 2:15, he goes down like he was shot, but gets right back up to stop Shavers himself. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dM6qQ50SpPw[/ame] Tremendous recuperative powers.
larry holmes went on to fight prime holyfield, mercer and mccall, none of them could knock him out. fat larry holmes beat ray mercer after this fight. peak tyson was incredible the way he folded holmes like that, endless stamina and tenacity.
The fact he got up is an unbelievable feat in itself, even though the fight was effectively over at that moment.
Holmes had great recuperative powers. He looked on his way against Weaver, Snipes and Shavers but pulled himself together in all 3 bouts to stop his opponent. Tyson didn't give him the time or space to recover though, and obviously that version of Holmes wasn't at his absolute peak.
