RIOS Vs. GAMBOA: Who Wins and How?

Spot on :good .... Rios is massively overrated IMO ... an easy come fwd fighter whose power seems to be exagerated . The issue of weight drain could come in around the later rounds .... gamboa will be poppoing and moving all evening and feeling strong at the weight .. Gamboa by comfortable decision !

 

Nice post :good ...agree 100%...think Rios is very overexposed and not as good as he thinks ... his punch powers is overrtaed and being a UK boxing fan im afraid John Murray was as badly marked up against our Kevin Mitchell last time up so read nothing into that . Murray bruises like a peach and was tailor made for a phone box punch up with Rios. Gamboa moves like a snake hes too quick for Rios who comes forward in straight lines. With discipline Gamboa can win by a wide UD on April 14th ... i certainly think so WAR GAMBOA !

 

To the people who think gamboa wins a close decision, i can respect that even tho i disagree...That is possible.

I scoff at anyone who thinks Gamboa wins an easy wide decision, and i flat out laugh at anyone who thinks Gamboa stops Rios.

From the looks of it, people here really underestimate Rios' skills...His in-fighting, and punching technique in particular, as well as some of his counterpunching skills.

Seems like pressure/in-fighters get no respect nowadays...especially from most black and cuban peeps...

 

You are delusional if you think that Rios pick off shots, actually he is a gold glover with a catcher mitts, he doesn't miss anything... Balls, he has plenty and a good chin.

 

Doc, Molina didn't whoop anyones a$$, Hi's face after the fight was a mess and he made the fight ugly against a fighter without his trainer (Shields was in Ireland with Rigondeaux) and poorly train (his fault) he did have a health problem 3 days before the fight, I think with a tooth, but didn't want to cancel, still he almost KO Molina, stop the bull$hit we all watch that fight, and you never has praise for any Cuban fighter so I think you are the jealous one, Canelo, Chavez Jr, common we all know the are paper champs protected by their promoters and el tocador de niños Sulaiman, back in the day before Castro came to power we have more Champions that any country on earth with the exception of USA, check that out, more than half a century later we are staring to make some noise, and mark my words it will not stop there...

 

Good post . You forgot to add that Murray still managed to land LOTS of shots to Rios's head .! Imagine if those shots were thrown by Gamboa ! . There's just no comparition between the two . Gamboa will stop Rios . Peace .

 

You also forgot to add that Rios was dead at the weight that night, and that a healthy Rios would have taken out Murray much more sooner and easier.


You also forgot to add that Gamboa couldnt even stop Salido, and before you come back with this "Gamboa got stupid" ****, it still took him 12 ****in rounds to ALMOST do it. Also Gamboa couldn't stop De Leon, who is slow, smaller and easier to hit than Rios...yet Gamboa is going to stop Rios?? Only way that happens is if Rios is severely unhealthy at the weight...But if he is healthy, then you are about to catch a very hard dose of reality, carnal.

Zopilote, you are getting too emotional and forgetting a couple of small but important details. Yes, it took Gamboa 12 full rounds to almost stop Salido but he completely dominate that fight right? What really matters is " winning ", doesn't matter if it's by KO, TKO, UD or SD.

Gamboa was in total control against Ponce and he clearly said that he wanted to prove to many experts that said " Gamboa shouldn't let Ponce pass the 6th round " as that was going to give Ponce a great chance of beating him. Maybe you haven't notice but Gamboa has 2 sides or " versions of him ". The first one is the hurricane Gamboa ( the one most people fell in love with ) and the other the more conservative and defensive Gamboa ( the present one ).

Just because he used version #2 against Salido and Ponce doesn't mean that he forgot his first version, he still can go hurricane at anytime against anyone. Did you see how easily he dismantled Jorge Solis? Don't be surprised if he does the same to Rios. Solis is/was a world class fighter and Gamboa made him look silly.

I'm young... but am not a teenager... have a family own my home.. and take care of my family..am still supporting this great fight.. no excuses cubans don't support **** but are the ones that cry the most... Williams is more marketable then Lara which is why he got the gift maybe payback for him getting a gift with Molina.
