Curious to thoughts about what fighters in history were in their physical prime past the age of 33 ? Not had bigger career success based on opportunity but actually were physically better than they were say in their late twenties ... any thoughts ?

Off the top of my head, none. I think that the reason fighters have success later on is knowledge acquired when one was young. I don't think that any professional fighter peaks physically at or beyond that age, but I think that many peak mentally in that age range. The variable is how much of your physical ability you have retained to be utilized by your brain.

I would say Jersey Joe could be mentioned here. But I'm not sure if he was stronger mentally when he was older, or if it was also a physical improvement

With Walcott that may very well be true, given the stories you read about his early career, about not having enough to eat and so on. But then again, maybe the tricks he picked up surviving when he was literally fighting hungry were what made him the cute, slick guy fighter that gave Louis and Marciano so much trouble.
Wlad, I think, has peaked because Stewart taught him to use his physical gifts

Carlos Monzon showed little if any signs of deterioration at 33 as i recall.

Lennox Lewis seemed as good as ever physically at that age.

That bullet in his shoulder didn't do him any favors.

    Disagree with you, Longhorn.

    Hopkins deteriorated physically too.

Just his decline was very gradual and he adjusted very well to it.

Wlad is a good choice - he still looks as fast and as powerful as he was in his younger days.
