    I remember watching that fight and thinking that a prime Vasquez would have beaten him.

    The prince displayed good punching power in that fight though.

    He did, and he certainly punch. But the thing about him, and I thought this from about the 3rd round of the Kelly fight, is that you have to make him lead. If you go to him, hamed would hit you very hard, but he was so much less effective leading. I think that Vasquez, when he had something left, would have waited him out, but I'm far from sure of that.

    Exactly, Hamed was more of an aggressive counter puncher, he preffered people walking onto his punch. Thats why MAB comfortably beat him, MAB kept a tight defense and waited for Hamed to lunge in with his by now predictable one punch and MAB would counter him and move around. Thats why IMO Hamed knocks Pacman out, a fight with Morales would have been a bit more interesting.

    People seem to forget that Hamed was the favourite against MAB reason being MAB was a brawler at the time and had already been knocked by Junior Jones, but at fight night MAB totally changed his style to counter puncher, something nobody though hed do. Jim lampley also commented about this after the fight.

    What everybody remembers is MAB beating Hamed, what nobody seems to remember is MAB totally changed his style. He had to, otherwise if he stood in front of Hamed, he would have got his ass parked

    Vasquez was always fairly inconsistent. Naz would always stop him just as Contreras and Avelar did closer to his best.

    Obviously no one beat him quite as well as Khaokor Galaxy :yep

    Problem with Hamed is he was quite adept at psyching his opponents into fighting his style of fight:wild,unorthodox shootouts.Even you admit in your post that he preferred people walking into his punch,lol.When faced with an elite that actually knew how to box,he was embarrassed.It's that simple.Have you actually seen the MAB-Jesus Salud fight?Hamed fans love to make excuses for their boy.It's quite hilarious actually.But the fact is that MAB was on a higher level than Hamed.MAB was everything Hamed wasn't:an intelligent,technically sound boxer.He proved that before Hamed in the Salud fight.Why should MAB have fought Hamed's style of fight when he was clearly the superior boxer?The other fact is that Hamed never fought anyone on the same plane as MAB.Cheers.

    I think the scores were something like 116-112

    MAB changed his whole fighting style come fight night.

    Resembles Pac-Jmm??? :huh:nut:!::patsch

    Pac-JMM were razor close fights, MAB-Hamed was a clinic...Hamed won 3 rounds at best, and were close rounds while Barrera won most of his rounds BIG.

    And Clinton said it best...Barrera had already shown he can be a great technician in the Salud fight,,Even Manny Steward commented on that, and was concerned for Hamed after seeing Barrera's masterful performance.
