My thoughts exactly. Should a fighter get this much say. HELL NO.

Whats next he will ask for the rules to be changed in boxing so he can prolong his career like NFL QB's today.

Its Boxing Floyd if you dont like it Retire. And if you dont like a Broadcastor doing there job and reporting STOP BEATING WOMEN.

    Simple.

He is out of control with his demands. Anyone thinking he isnt has a agenda.

Merchant and Lampley need to focus more on what's actually happening in the ring, anyway.

Because Larry drinks and therefore isn't comfortable bringing up DUIs (which could've resulted in JCC turning the tables on him, something that would have hurt the broadcast), but is comfortable bringing up other issues in the ring, he's not a fit interviewer? That's extremely specific grounds to force someone into retirement over--he can't bring up one issue. Most 80-year-old journalists have something in their past they'd rather not remind their readers or viewers of by posing related contentious questions in interviews.

Larry is a man, man. :bart He's not a perfect journalist (they don't exist), just a damned good one. Who can fault him for avoiding asking Chavez Jr. about drunk driving, something that would have undoubtedly come back on Merchant if Chavez knew anything about the man (or smelled his breath).

With the domestic violence allegations against Lampley, frivolous as they may have been (I don't know), I wouldn't blame him for avoiding asking Floyd if he's smacked any bitches lately.

Does'nt really matter what Mayweather requests. The HBO broadcast team is far too deep in the bias **** they spew on the air, that as far as a fighter requesting this and that does'nt really matter.
It cant really get any worse as far as I'm concerned.

Sir, the irony is astounding here.

    I digress.

In comparison to Larry "O.G." Merchant, I am not a sports journalist, pundit, analyst, or any variation thereof as my profession. This is, unless, you wish to concede that journalistic freedom is a nonsensical entity that needs to be done away with. If you would have journalism be done away and replaced across the board by unified, no-input/value added reporting, then I guess the actions which sparked this thread align closely with your values.

Further, and this is along a different train of thought, celebrity and sports culture is markedly different from that of standard civilians.

As far as "dumb crap" goes, refer to the contents of Bogotazo's post. You will find, among other possibilities, clear, legitimate rationale for why "side items" may be brought into mention during broadcasts.

That was the one time I was genuinely pissed at them. Other times, I may just disagree if the analysis seems off or laugh if Merchant gets cranky during a slow-paced fight.

Floyd's stance when smearing Pacquiao's name with Steroid allegations.

"This is America, baby. Land of free speech. I can say what I want."

Floyd's stance when people say negative things about him.

"Not allowed!!! Make them stop saying bad things about me! I am crying the
    manliest tears ever right now!!!"

But Floyd, doesn't that make you a hypocrite???

    "Huh???"

What is HBO gonna do regarding 24/7?

Why is this even a problem with Floyd anyway? He should be DGAF about it like a G instead of trying to force others to not talk about it- screw what people say, I have money.

Instead, he's sounding self-conscious and placing bars that will limit the potential hype (and PPV). Everyone knows it, Floyd gets PAID by the hate and the desire to see him lose. Soooo..

The only real reason why I'd see him want to do something like this is for his kids, which is reason enough for me. But for anything else, it just sounds two-faced

Insecure, unstable, mentally weak (out of ring where he has NO control), and paranoid. Deadly combination. it'll be a damn shame when he eventually does something terrible again, goes broke, and finds himself in jail.

in 10 years Pac will still be sitting pretty enjoying the fruits of his labor and achievements. Floyd will be sitting pretty in Big Bubba's lap in Prison.
