What the **** were you listening to? All I heard wad him talking about Akiyama killing Shields and then scrambling in the third when he realised Shields' was getting the decision
I thought the complete opposite. For the first 2 rounds all he spoke about was how amazing Akiyama looks at 170 and how his takedown defence is the best in the game, whilst completely ignoring the fact that he was getting out landed 3-1 on the feet. It wasn't until the third that he started praising Shields.
Rogan knows his stuff, one of the best commentators in all of sport, always tells it how he see's it,is never afraid to give his own opinion, unlike a lot of boxing commnetators
If there's a Pretty Boy in MMA then Rogan's the 1st to get a moratorium. You may not like him, you may not like him yelling on the mic, but he tells it as he sees it. I believe Rogan gives even new fans an insight especially when the action is on the ground.
Nah, he was loving Akiyama but then switched to Shields. I think he wanted to make sure people don't jump on the "Shields is a bum" train should he have lost his third fight in a row. He is still by far the best in fight analyst in the history of mma. Everyone else is fighting for 2nd.
So it's only now you guys are noticing that Rogan tends to get over excited and has his favourites...
Lets face it - you'd rather have Rogan than the dull, tired pundits on Match of the Day. He has his flaws but he's entertaining and independent.
Exactly this. Going on and on about Akiyama seemingly endlessly even though Akiyama wasn't doing almost anything offensively. Whenever he did take Jake down it was momentarily at best. He probably has the poorest offensive game in the UFC, but certainly has some good defensive abilities. But clearly that doesn't win fights at a high level if you can't augment that with some offensive output. Part of the problem (from Akiyama's perspective) was also that Jake Shields is a tremendously difficult fighter to keep down and it's not exactly a picnic being in his guard.
What the **** were you guys watching. Did you not hear him credit Akiyama's throws? He did and he highlighted how amazing his takedown defense is. Why did he comment more on Akiyama's offense? Because it was next to non existant. Akiyama wasn't pulling the trigger he did next to nothing. He was tentative and shields was peppering away with strikes outhustling him. Mark Hunt has improved. So when Mark hunt got pinned against the fence and instead of being taken down with relative ease as he use to be he gets underhooks, turns Kongo to the fence, and seperates allowing him to dominate the striking exchanges. That's IMPROVEMENT and it allows him to strike with confidence knowing he can deal with attempts to smother him and put him on the ground.
Yeah disagree completely, all I heard was them sucking Akiyama's **** and talk about how great he looked at welter in a fight where he did **** all offensively.
