Do the Dickinson Brothers get no credit because they are from the North East???

Do they especially deserve a great deal of credit? They did well to win Prizefighter in weak lineups, that's about as far as it goes.

 

It does have something to do with it but not as much as the promoter, if Jaffa had shown more hunger and desire he would of been hyped up big time and got a lot of press.

I would imagine it would be a promoters dream to have 2 brothers who are marketable, entertaining and ready for title fights soon. Get them on bigger cards hype them up and put on a big fight night at metro arena with both fighters fighting for the British title, surely it can't be that hard to do in the next 12 months

 

They need to make this fight within 12 months as I think Jaffa is one loss away from quitting. I hope I'm wrong but he doesn't seem to be enjoying the sport as much as he used too. Hopefully bellow will vacate once he beats mcintosh and travis can fight ovil for vacate title and first defence against Jaffa :happy

 

jl dickinson is in the worst divison domestically the cruiserweight divison has hardly any talent so im sure someone as talented as him will go right to the top of the division.

 

Seen them both in Prizefighter and seen both of them fight at the Rainton Medows a few times.

Travis looks the better of the two brothers to me, but John looks like the one you wouldnt want to bump into on a night out.

I am sure it was John who had his jaw broken at one of the shows i was at. Hes very enjoyable to watch, a little bit crude which is always nice at the smaller more regional shows.

Travis looks good and looks like he would have the potential to go further.

Birtley seems to have a lot going on in the amateurs too, i might be wrong but i am sure the coach there won trainer of the year.

Shame they are Newcastle fans. Although it was nice seeing them with their Sunderland shirts for those press photos a while back.

 

They have been too inactive but I think both could win British titles in the near future. They don't get massively promoted and couldn't capitalise on their Prizefighter wins for different reasons (Jon getting beat twice due to injury and Travis taking time of for broken ribs).

They just need to stay active as much as possible and wait for their chance.

Degale was a Olympic gold medalist so its easy to see why he was heavily promoted. Groves was with hayemaker who had very little fighters in their books (just Haye and Groves at one point) so they had more time to focus on him.

If you take a look at Groves earlier career he was doing the same type of circuits as the Dickinsons, Jeffries etc, he even boxed on a NE show at Sunderland.

This might not be a popular opinion but I feel he benefited from Darren Sutherland's death (not purposefully in anyones case) in that early days I felt they were trying to build to an eventual feud between Degale and Sutherland (being so they fought 5-6 times as amateurs) and when Sutherland died Groves got the nod to take his place in many ways.

Well maybe he shouldn't get his nose and jaw 'severely' smashed if he want's more credit. Unavoidable? I'm pretty sure it's possible to avoid punches.

 

Not having a go mate but you really should make sure you have researched your argument before putting it to people insisting it is because they are from the North East.

I do agree though that fighters up here dont get as much exposure as their Scouse/Manc/Cockney counterparts. Maybe the reason for that is like somebody said, without Jefferies its hard to put on a big enough show for them.
