if Gesta ends up as JMM's opponent on this card, this will be an easy decision for me on whether to purchase the PPV or not. I won't.

 

Mijares is fighting above his best weight and his best days are well in the rear-view mirror. Donaire's going to beat him pretty badly in a fight I'm not really that excited for.

 

Yeah, this one's about 4 years late.

Seriously, look at each man's career momentum in that time.

Granted, Mijares has eked out a respectable little comeback and looked decent of late - but he's nowhere near what he was, at his prime age and optimal weight.

Donaire meanwhile is at his absolute peak and is physically far more suited to SBW.

 

I seem to remember a quote from Donaire's management about them looking for a fight that makes him look good. What's that? Mijares? Oh. I get it.

Hopefully not, but Mijares is a damn good fighter. Considering he fought not long ago, I'll give him a pass. Mijares @ 122 truly means little.
