GYM's prez wants Stevenson to get more credibility, targeting the Quebec fanbase (casual Bute fans).

He says it's possible the IBF sanctions this one for a mandatory status @ Bute's belt.

    http://www.rds.ca/boxe/chroniques/336101.html - sorry it's in French.

They acknowledge the fact that Ward & Froch are miles ahead of Stevenson in terms of notoriety @ 168 lbs.

One way to enhance Stevenson's image in QC is to have him spark Andrade up... and boxing fans in QC love Andrade for who he is.

One of them rounds shall be ROTY.

If Andrade wins that's a bad thing. No one wants to see him back with Bute.

Andrade probably wants to come back to Montreal, he's well known there.

    He ain't winning a decision. He ain't KO'ing Stevenson.

This opportunity would be all Stevenson's. Sets him up for an IBF title shot early 2013... Bute will either be frying bigger fish or moving up at that time, so Stevenson would possibly be gunning for a vacant title. Fine by me.

SOB Ward needs to quit hiding from Bute and fight him, but he will not! It was bad enough that Ward refused to allow Bute to fight in his tournament, but he refuses to fight Bute at all! Ward wants no part of Bute, watch and see................

Stevenson beats Andrade, probably stops him, and sets up a big big fight in Montreal.

The Andrade of today would probably lose to Stevenson, who hits too hard even for Librado. He would not have time to set up his usual strategy: tiring his opponents and then KO them. I believe if Andrade is able to last, he would KO Stevenson (who has been KO'D by Darnell Boone) but I don't see it this time. Librado is too inactive, not motivated enough and all the shot he has been taken had their effect.

I think you are probably right, but it would be good for once to see the look on Stevenson's face when he starts hitting Andrade and he doesn't go down. In the end Stevenson would probably finish Andrade but it will not be in 4 rounds becaus Stevenson does not have the body punch which looked like the only way to KO Andrade. Stevenson will punch Andrade in the face all night long and in the end the ref (or doctor) will probably stop it.

Andrade should be an underdog here, but if he wins this is how it's gonna be - and it isn't that far-fetched.

Stevenson will always carry the stigma of being vulnerable to anyone with any heaviness in their hands at any moment - with Andrade certainly clocking in well above the minimum heavy-handedness to qualify.

The Boone KO was legit. That will always be relevant.

Stevenson said on national tv that he had been badly managed and certainly undertrained for that fight. No sparring at all. :bart

Am I the only one who thinks that Stevenson is probably more dangerous to Bute than Froch is at this moment?

I like this fight a lot, but #1 spot for the IBF doesn't mean mandatory. George-Rodriguez is for the IBF #2 spot, so the winner of this fight would need to face the winner of that fight for the mandatory.

It's annoying as hell though that the IBF hasn't updated the rankings on their website for almost a year.

Anyway, if Andrade's chin is really cracked, Stevenson takes him out early. If not, well, Stevenson's been subdued by constant pressure before.

And Boone works 8 hours a day at Home Depot, took the fight on short notice, had an 8 round fight only a month before and is naturally a weight class lower. Sparring or not, if you're hot ****, you should beat someone who's brought in to be an opponent. And that's with all due respect to Boone, who's one of the best journeymen out there.

Stevenson-Gonzales was officially for the #2 spot.

What does that say about young Andre Ward? :think

    Stevenson hits hard.

    He also hits hard.

Did I mention he hits hard.

Other than that, well he hits wide and hard.

IBF made up its mind, they're going forward with sanctioning this for the #1 spot. Won't be in April though, it'll take place after May 26th for sure (IBF rules).

Should be a good scrap even though ****in Pryor Jr was able to beat Andrade who appears to be a bit shop worn.

    Stevenson TKO 9
