Calzaghe the greatest European of all time?

Calzaghe isn't even the greatest Welsh fighter ever.

Could be wrong, but I think McLarnin was a Canadian national by the time he turned pro.

If you're basing it on being born in Europe, both McLarnin and Fitz would be on the shortlist, and Cerdan wouldn't be.

Joe Calzaghe=Sven Ottke just with more ******ed and arrogant fan base.
At least Ottke never claimed to be the best or even any good. Was not cocky person unlike this feather fisted, slapping coke head.:-(

Come on man. Don't invite more criticism of the guy. He was a damned good fighter, and worthy of the respect of the masses. Saying outlandish things only gets his career taken apart for no reason. Leave it be.

 

Personally I'm pretty ambivalent on his nationality. If he held dual citizenship he should be recognised as Ireland's greatest ever fighter and have a very strong shout for Europe's best. However, I have no idea whether that was actually the case.

Fitz for example seems to be British only when it suits people, and he lived longer in his birth country than McLarnin did.

 

I remember once reading an article in a barber shop. This was around 2004-5ish

There was this Q+A session with Calzaghe.

The woman asked him ho many guys he thought he could knockout in one go. He replied something to the effect of, Hatton said 5, im bigger than him so ill knock out about 6.

Another question was, in how many rounds do you think you could take Tyson? He said Tyson doesnt look too good nowadays, ill do him in 5.
