you really think gamboa's gonna carry his power with him at 135?bottom line is this is the best opponent either guy has fought only difference is this is rios turf and gamboa's the visitor.they should call this fight "the truth"cause thats what we will find out about both guys.
For your information, Gamboa has already fought at 136 1/2 pounds and he actually made his debut at 129 1/2! He has fought around 5 times between 132-134 pounds so this is nothing new to him! Secondly, a friend of mine saw a recent video of Gamboa in training and he said that Gamboa was just as fast or probably faster and stronger now than at featherweight! And this is coming from a guy who is not biased but is always very cautious with his posts. In the video, Gamboa was sparring with junior middle weights like nothing!
Yeah, believing that more by the day. He can still run into something stupid, but being so small and mobile means he'll be much harder to find than what Rios would prefer. What the hell, if post-hospital Jorge Arce could handle a talented yet not very fast VW2, Gamboa might pull a Lacy on Rios. I'm certainly rooting for that, and a big smile toward Bob Arum when the Cuban walks out of Top Rank's door.
This has me thinking though, and I agree with you Arum doesn't give a **** about Gamboa, and is basically trying to catapult Rios' status by feeding the Cuban to him. Hate to say it, but it's not out of the possibility to see a stinker of a decision in Rios' favor if it goes to the cards. ESPECIALLY considering RIOS is going to be the aggressor in the fight.
Gamboa TKO 8-10. Hopefully Rios attacks and leaves himself open. But I doubt that.He is not stupid.Garcia knows that if Rios does that he will run into a lot shots.Robert Garcia will make Rios be patient and apply effective pressure. This is what get's me worried.I think Gamboa needs to make Rios get aggressive so he can land on this kid easier. He is the shorter bloke and i noticed that he reaches a lot against fighters who are reluctant to come in the kill zone. However, speed and power kills. The speed and power is too much for Rios.I see Gamboa TKO in the 10 in spectacular fashion because Rios is a punching bag. :happy
I don't understand why anyone would put Rios in this caliber of a fight at 135 when it is clear he can not safely make the weight.
Better for Gamboa, his troubles came when he had to go after them, and got countered. Those coming to him went straight to youtube.
dont see any fights on gamboas record at the weight of 135,at least not professional.maybe he weighed 135 on fight night but the fight weight was not 135,FYI.
