Dominick Guinn is at least a step up from Boytsov's last opponent, Darnell Wilson.

This fight is reportedly going to be in Cologne, Germany on April 13. Universum has another event scheduled for Schwerin, Germany on April 21.

Guinn has a great chin so I suspect this will be a 100-90 type win for Boystov.

Typical Euro-hype, digging up an old never-has-been American to promote their little darling.

Or perhaps Boytsov will make a statement by becoming the first to stop him?

Perhaps but my money is on it's going the distance and I'm pretty confident about that. Guys like Maddelone, Feliz, and Hawkings went the distance with him. Though that could have been to get Boystov more work against opponents who were deemed "safe." But, Guinn, for all his faults has a hell of a chin. He's taken beatings in fights and hasn't tasted the canvas.

Is Guinn really a step up from Wilson? :think

Other than being a "real heavyweight", I fail to see how the Disaster is any better a scalp.

Wilson had beat Gomez, whereas Guinn has.. well, lost his last two pretty decisively.

Not a step up in any fashion, its just another padding of Boytsovs record, and a boring one at that.

I think he's barely a step up, but not a big enough step for anyone to really get excited about it, lol

Lateral step, IMO. Niggling difference. :yep

Stopping Guinn wouldn't really be that much more of a statement than was knocking out Wilson. Ding had been "stopped" before, but never knocked out the way Boytsov did. His reputation for toughness at both CW and HW was no less sterling than is Guinn's.

To be fair, Wilson had lost 6 in a row before the win over Gomez, which was something of a fluke because Gomez was injured and could only use one arm.

Guinn was on a five fight winning streak when he fought Kubrat Pulev, including early KO wins over a 21-0 fighter and a 27-1 fighter.

Wilson is 1-8 in his past 9 fights, and had been stopped by Gavern.
Guinn is 5-2 in his past 7, and has never been stopped.

And of course Guinn is a natural heavyweight, Wilson is not.

On paper Guinn is a step up from Wilson but in actuality I'd probably pick Wilson to beat Guinn. Guinn will be the highest profile name on Boystov's record and if he could stop him it would be a nice bonus.

The good news is that this will be Boystov's third fight in about 7 months and if he is injury free he really should look at facing a top 10-15 fighter in his next fight.

Boytsov was going to fight Pulev for the European title if Dimitrenko turned the fight down. Denis is next in line since he's next highest ranked by the EBU.

But it looks like Dimitrenko has accepted the fight with Pulev, and it will be on a Sauerland event March 31.

So Denis will fight Guinn for now, and he's a decent stay-active opponent in my opinion.

I'll bet if Mitchell was fighting Guinn the East Euro haters would be calling it a good match and bigging it up...

Finally an opponent that means something......not because I expect Guinn to win(I don't) but a common enough opponent that we can measure Boystov performance against.
A measuring stick if you will.......something that has been badly lacking in Boystov's career so far.
After his victory over Guinn we just might.....just might see Boystov finally challenge some known contenders or even fellow up coming undefeated fighters a la Detonay Wilder, Mannual Charr, perhaps Perez, Fury or even Price........but then again maybe he won't!;)
