Floyd ducked Marg, Cotto and now Pac Because I think He hates Arum so much that he don't want to fight any fighter under Top Rank and all his out of this world reasoning and excuses are just to evade any fight aginst TR fighter
Yeah, a lot of it has to do with Arum. I think the thought of him helping Arum make some money, makes him sick to his stomach. Even if the deals were reasonable and reflected what the fighters were worth, Floyd would want a lot more to make up for the horrible fact that Arum would be making money off his name. That's why in that recent interview he said absolutely no way to a 50-50 split with Pacquiao. Edit: ^^^ It's still a **** excuse, though. When you're sharing the stage with a promoter/fighter who's equally as big as you, you have to give up the right to demand extra. You can't keep avoiding fights because you don't like the promoter.
And I bet you that leaving Arum was something that was discussed in that phone conversation that he and Manny had and hopefully Floyd will play it like he said he would.
Well he's fighting Cotto now, Margo - who gives a **** about him really and Pacquiao is as much TR's fault as it is May's.
Man, I hate when people over simplify things. Kids this is business and that is the reason why a lot of those fights did not happen. 1) When PBF was with Arum both PBF and Cotto wanted that fight. But Arum did not want that fight to happen because Cotto was not ready yet. 2) Margo didn't happen was probably due to the animosity between the two but also due to the fact that PBF was more focused on getting Oscar in the ring. 3) As for Pac, Arum has a history of protecting his cash cows. For all his fighters he has a road map laid out for them and he is very good at building a career. Arum did not want the fight with PBF 2 years ago because wanted the safer Clottey fight where he could make almost just as much money (double dipping). Which set up the fight with the disgraced Margocheato. This time around Arum had his mini-tournament in his mind for Pac and nothing was gonna make him waiver, PBF was not even on his radar. I think you mainly have the finger pointed in the wrong direction. Arum Has such tight control over the careers of the fighters he promotes that unless he green lights it nothing happens oh yeah **** margocheato
Not sure about Cotto, but there definitely seemed to be times when Floyd did not want a part of Margarito or Pacquiao.
Floyd turned down Margarito, cos part of the deal was to resign with Top Rank. As already said Arum seems to be the problem
To be fair, Arum literally stole from him, so it's no surprise he won't work with him, it's not like he just doesn't like his attitude or something.
