If Winky Wright done?

    Is Winky done?

    According to boxing scene Peter Quillin was scheduled to fight Winky Wright only for the fight to "fall through". This is what, the 4th or 5th fight in a row which got announced for Winky and then fell through.

    There has to be a story behind all these fights "falling through" after being announced. Why does this happen in boxing? I notice a lot of Roy Jones Jr. fights have been falling through after being announced as well but those fights were against nobodies so we can understand why those fights fell through but Peter Quillin vs Winky Wright would have been a good competitive fight.

    So why did it fall through?

    Golden Boy may not have wanted to risk Quillin against Winky. Wright's stock has dropped due to his inactivity and one-sided beatdown against the now defunk PWill.

    Done when Williams beat him, maybe even before since I haven't followed his career.

    Use to be a huge Wright fan, **** him. He ruined his own career.

    Wright has always had a bad habit of pricing himself out of fights, or attempting to renegotiate fights to get more money out of it. He probably outsmarted himself out of several millions of dollars for overestimating his marketability.

    His last fight he was dominated against Williams. The one before that was Hopkins I believe. He just kinda faded out .

    Absolutely. As my favorite fighter I can readily admit his days are in the past.

    I can't imagine he was ever offered anything close to "several millions of dollars" to fight Quillan. I think this is more not wanting to risk a loss against a guy that could potentially still give him trouble.

    I used to like Winky but he's done now. For whatever reason, he didn't stay busy. Ever since his loss to Hopkins, he's been irrelevant.
